Aye, that I did. And it is. One of my other favourites is the film of a British soldier carrying a wounded comrade through the trenches in WW1. I don't have it, but the look on the guy's face just really sums up the war.
WW2 it's probably this one: Though from a more recent conflict this one stands out for me, it just couldn't have been better framed: This from WW1 moves me tremendously: And there's another that Redcoat uses/used as an avatar of an exhausted Tommy that's a great shot, but I can't find it now. Cheers, Adam.
Thanks Huff!! ;-)) This is the photograph I was talking about ;-)) You made a Southerner (me) very happy today seeing this photograph. ;-D
Hi Mike, Huff, Mike your partially correct about this photo. It is a deceased Confederate Soldier but, this is a staged photo. I remember when THC or the Discovery Channel, had a series out that got in depth on famous photos such as this one and this one has been research at length and proven to be a posed (by said photographer) photo. None the less, it still is a very interesting photo. BTW, did you know that the vast majority of photographs taken of Confederate Soldiers were photos showing only the dead. It's considered a rarity to see a photo of live Confederate Soldiers-unfortunately. :-((
Im glad that you are showing the full photo of these two German Soldiers-which is a photo taken when they were attacking Poland. I've seen all too many time, this same photo but, only showing the German Solldier who is throwing a Potatomasher grenade.
Hi Jeff, this was one of my faveorite WWII pics as well. Also, last I heard, this man is still living as he recently came forward and let it be known that hi is the kisser; in this photo. Also, he lives in Houston, TX. I have his name somewhere and have been wanting to look and see if he is listed in the H-phonebook. I'd love to interview this guy. As im moving in that direction in the next few months, im hoping to quickly have the chance to meet him somewhere in town. ;-D
Love the picture of the nurse/sailor kissing at wars end. Any of the celebratory post war pictures are great. The Pearl Harbor attack and battleship explosion stand out . I also remember a picture I saw showing the Japanese miniature model of Pearl Harbor used for training their pilots, thinking how much effort was involved in creating that model..Which now reminds me of the absolutely huge recent scale model of a certain part of the Himalayas(?) China built that was shown on google maps. Any help on this?
No telling on what she may have done? The only thing I remember was that she was too shocked to do much of anything about it and I THINK she may have danced with him or something?
