http://www.battlefront-store.com:8080//index.php?&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26 Looking at the Battlefront Website/Store, for those interested, you can purchase CMBB and CMAK for a total of $40 - thats two games. Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin and Combat Mission Afrika Korps. CMAK alone costs $25.00 as does CMBB, so you're saving $10 Options include: Download Only Mail Only Download + Mail (+$10) I'll be getting CMAK tonight once i get home, to make my collection complete once more. I am pissed that I can't find my CD...its a great game (CMAK).
Damn! Less than a quarter of what I paid for when I bought them! Great great games, if I had the time!
PBEM's only take a few minutes (to issue orders or watch the movie file)...i can pop out two turns (for 2 different games) in less then 10 minutes (and this in the morning when i am still asleep).
I take more than that, I love those movies, I watch them repeatedly from several angles so the 60 secs. each move generates tend to take on a lifetime Anyway this is not my computer and I'm not going to install any games. I'll leave this for later In any case this series is the best WW2 tactical simulation I've seen. Many members would benefit from playing it, quite a learning and sobering experience! No going around shooting like crazy, you simply DUCK! It answers a lot of questions and provides an entirely new perspective. Very very recommended!
Yeah....it definitely is something special. Every single bullet is kept track of. You can even see shells splintering on armor and bouncing off. You really need to think strategically and use combined arms in this type of game. I like to view it as the TOAW of the Real Time World...TOAW = The Operational Art of War Series.
Not wishing to be picky, but those would be tactical decisions, not strategic If strategic decisions were made before the game, you would be attacking that Schwerpunkt at 20:1 ratio, or else your enemy would have vacated the game table recognizing his situation is untenable. Either would make a lousy game And TOAW is another great game, no doubt about that. Larger scale than CM, and a good mechanism. In CM as you say every bullet is calculated by the system, every tiny terrain fold or dip counts if you don't want your posterior punctured. CM does indeed teach everyone quite a few lessons. It tells you your dreams of grandeur evaporate when you arrive in the battlefield, or alternatively when you do some historical scenario you say to yourself something like "How could they possibly have pulled that one off, it's completely impossible. The guys who did that sure had True Grit!" (John Wayne reference ) Great game indeed!
And its not like a FPS game where each tanks gets destroyed in 2 - 3 frontal hits. CM takes into account shell size/power, range, thickness of armor, slope of armor, trajectory, etc. Thus hitting a Jagdtiger front on isn't going to see any results (mine survived close to 10 hits to the front - from an M10 that kills a Tiger in 1 hit)...and while this all sounds complicated, you really don't have to worry about any of it. Check out the AAR (once it gets written) and the video clips (once they get made) if you have any doubts.
I have CMBO, CMBB, and CMAK. Who else has these games? Post the ones you have or are planning on getting. It might be fun to get a mini-tournament going on the Forums, or a few Forum PBEM's going too. I know Joe and Tomcat have at least one of the games, as does Otto. Who else?
As well as BO (damn I hate those initials ), I have Shock force, a modern version. It's a bit more of a "handful" than the others, and I have to complain about an M1A2 Abrams being destroyed by a frontal hit from a T-72!
Guys Im the CM Moderator at The Blitzkrieg Wargaming Club. Blitzkrieg Wargaming Club we have one of the largest ladders out there for the CM series of games. If interested in joining drop me a mail. I also run The FGM Home Page which specialises in Campaigns for the CM series of games. Would be great to get some of you over.
I own the most recent development of CC the theater of war and I must say infantry wise it's a step back (infantry is rather stupid...). I hope they ammend that with the expansion pack that is coming tough... Cheers...
I believe your referring to a different game Miguel. Theatre of War is a different game but marketed by the same company. 'Battlefront'. Battlefront.com - Home
Combat Mission is great, anyone interested in a WW2F tournament? Peppy >>> Misses his Combat Missions
From what i can see this game is still a live and doing good. Is there anyone interested in a battle that owns their own?
