A Croatian rock star flirts with the Nazi past - International Herald Tribune July 1, 2007 For the Croatian rock star Marko Perkovic, it is a routine part of his performance: He shouts a well-known Croatian slogan from World War II and his fans respond with the Nazi salute. Photographs from the concert show youths wearing the black caps of the Nazi-backed Ustasha regime that ruled Croatia, and which was responsible for sending tens of thousands of Serbs, gypsies and Jews to their deaths in concentration camps. They just don't seem to get it," said Efraim Zuroff, the Israel Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, who called on the president of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic, to ban future concerts and help outlaw the use of extremist symbols and slogans.
Pretty stupid IMHO. Skipper's post reminded me of a gig I attended a week ago. There were two Nazi skinheads showing Germany's current flag with the German coat of arms on it doing the Nazi salute and yelling "Sieg heil"... At first I laughed, but then I realized how scary it is that some kids promote Nazism without actually knowing anything about it.
Yea many youth of today (I can speak for them!) are very ignorant to World War 2nd (promoting that topic of mine!) and I am shocked as well! My friend was saying he wanted a swastica tatoo and when I inquired why he said "cause its cool!" Another bunch of people at my school yell "Heil Hitler!" and do Nazi salutes all the bloody time!
