Well you should feel very welcome here and we are privlaged to have you and to know that your grandfather although an SS soldier was still a soldier of Germany, who knows maybe he was a pleasant SS man, who had no choice but to join them, better to think that then that he was like all the SS men we read about.

Welcome to the forum. I don't usually reply to this thread but what attracted my attention was your statement about Sgt. Rock. That comic character was mainstay of my comics reading time when I was a kid.

Welcome, Kate! Always nice to have other women on the forum so I don't seem such an anomaly! They're a pretty good bunch of Rogues, though. I see they have welcomed you as warmly as they welcomed me.

Like you I've always been interested in WWII. In my case, because my Dad was with the Canadian Army and my Mother was a Londoner. Interesting that you mentioned the comic books as I'd not thought about them in years, but when I was a kid amongst the comic books were the military ones too.

I smell better!!! Now that's a phrase I didn't expect - better than the opposite I suppose....

I'm probably able to spend a bit more time again, still have to finish one more assignment for my university class and that's done. The competitive process at work went well on the knowledge side and I lost out because I didn't have the experience. I'll be happy to be back here! I've come across some interesting bits while doing some research so shall be back by the weekend to post again.
