Hi; I found this most excellent site on Google. I have been interested in just what happened during WWII since I was a kid in the 60s growing up in it's shadow. Of particular interest has been the rash of books that has cropped up since the end of the Cold War shedding light on just what happened in the East-i.e. "The Great Patriotic War." In a related thing my latest hobby has been restoring old photos digitally. More on this later. JeffinMNUSA
Bigfun; The Photo is an Adobe "artistic liberty" taken on a snapshot taken at a Russian War memorial by a friend of a friend. Some photos are so grainy, out of focus, tilted and poorly lighted that all you can do with them is turn them into "paintings". I used about twenty screens to arrive at this result. The figure in the middle is Mother Russia calling her children to arms. JeffinMNUSA
David; The weather has been WEIRD up here since OCT-a couple nice days followed by a cold blast from Hudson's Bay that can last up to a week...over and over again. I have some friends coming out from California soon and I hope it is nice then... The wife and I are going to Arizona this summer (Yes that is correct) to look up friends and maybe finally get some decent sunshine. JeffinMNUSA
Jeff - Welcome to the forums! You will enjoy your time here, I am sure. I am very interested to see more of your art-with-photos! It was 107 in Arizona yesterday. If you want sun, go South for the winter!
DG; I will go to Arizona ANY TIME! But we do have people to look up and business to conduct on this one. We were there in summer a couple years back and it was OK-you just want to be sure to be in the AC between noon and sundown-certainly no problem getting a hotel room that time of the year. Great place, great people, great scenery and the history is as almost as fascinating as WWII. JeffinMNUSA
I'm becomming a big Jeff fan. Your interests seem very similar to mine: partisans/resistance groups, eastern front, and I'm assuming SOE and OSS activities also. But I disagree with your Arizona comments. In the summer you need AC all day long. A freakishly unnatural place for human existence. Good to meet ya.
AM; Kind of hard to find people interested in the WWII-the all of it- in this neck of the woods-thank God for the net! Kind of hard to find ANYONE interested in Arizona in the summertime and I think I might be alone on this one. But honestly-the heat does not bother me...well until it gets over the hundred degree mark. I am not sure exactly why this is so. JeffinMNUSA
Welcom to the Forum, Jeff. I have to concur on having an interest in the SOE/OSS. I'm still trying to figure out what roles my mother had from the administrative side of keeping wartime secrets in London. I look forward to your posts, and hope you enjoy it here. By the way if you like Arizona in the summer, you should try Saskatchewan then - the temps can get to be the same!
