Anyone here play Axis & Allies Miniatures? I thought I saw some talk of this before but I couldn't find it by searching. Axis & Allies Miniatures Gallery
I dont play the game but I have a few of the minis that I bought a few years ago to see what they were like.
I occasionally play the game... I tried to point out several inaccuracies with the units but Wizzards doesn't listen... shame :S Cheers...
Miguel, Their response to this type of problem is that it is a game not a simulation. I know what you mean though. Anytime the outcome is based on dice you will never have an accurate game. Oh well though.
Yeah but it's quite sad to have a Matilda with more frontal armor (a lot!!) than a Pzrkv IV H. Oh and in a North Afrika setting they choose to give the Germans the Ausf H and Tiger I. both tanks saw little action in NA... Cheers...
I started picking up boxes about a month ago. I like it but I too have found it difficult to find other people that are interested in playing. On most forums I have't found much recent activity.
Do you have a favorite side? What is your favorite army build? Have you ever increased the point count to 150, 300 or something else? I usually end up play as the Germans. My brother, the guy I usually play with, is the allied guy, in a sense tying my opportunity for victory to the axis, which may be one reason why I think the Germans had a chance. I have tried several builds but I have not found anything I really like until recently. I have not tried it out yet but hopefully some time soon. I like using armor. The King Tiger has been by foundation, but I find it too costly to support a successful army. Its new lower cost may change that but only playing it will tell. I have been looking at indirect fire options recently, have you ever tried this?
How do you determine line of sight? I use a piece of thread. I thought about a yard stick but then you have to make sure it doesn't bend or anything.
For line of sight a small dowel works fine. I just put a dice on the corner to give me a definite corner. I have a laser that makes lines but I've never really bothered. I so far have played mostly Axis and my army changes basically every game. I think increasing the points would change the game to much on starter set map at least. STUG III Ausf. G PAK 40 Panzer III Ausf.F MG 42 Machine Gun Team Vetran Fallschirmjager Type 89 Mortar 7.5cm LELG18 Type 92 Machine-Gun Team SD KFZ 231 Panzerfaust 30
Here is a sample army but I usually change it each game for variety. I almost always do the builds for both sides. T-34/76 M4A1 Sherman Crusader II 3" Gun M5 Eagle-Eyed NCO Mortar M2 M1 Garand Rifle Bazooka SMLE No.4 Rifle MAS 7.5mm Rifle
I usually face a similar build. The last time I played I used an all infantry army and did surprisingly well.
I've been playing this game for almost a year and a half now, and find it quite enjoyable. Lately I've been trying to build platoons, companies, and other premade formations for gameplay. I want them to be as historically accurate as possible, and so was wondering where could I find a definitive list of military formations. The group that I'm a part of has been trying very hard to to make this game no longer be a beer and pretzels game, but something slightly more complex. So far its been difficult for them due to the nature of the mechanics of the game, namely dice-rolling. If anybody could direct me somewhere or provide info of any sort it would be appreciated.
