I know every where you read you hear that everyone in the photo was part of the E502 PIR. But when reading articles they still can't identify a few soliders. My grandfather was a service company 506pir and I swear the man on the far right with some sort of object around his chest is him. Also if you look at his badge on his arm it doesn't look the same as the rest of the men in the picture. His name was Walter Neton and was Service Company 506th PIR. My question is could it be him because it looks exactly like him, and being in the service company did they tend to move in different locations? And does anyone know how I can find out where the 506th PIR service company was located on june 6th when the photo was taken. thanks for any help you got. But look closley at the man in the right... hes the last man with a full body shot in the photo and has a very dirty face, with some sort of object around his neck. Thanks for help Dave Keckan (grandson of 1sgt Walter neton 506th PIR)

Michel de Trez, a preeminent US paratroop historian, has identified the man in question as Pfc. Michael Babich. Here is this photograph's caption from American Warriors: A Pictorial History of the American Paratroopers Prior to Normandy by de Trez:
The book by Michel de Trez referenced above is one of a two-volume photo-pictorial set covering the 82nd and 101st AB drops into Normandy. Each book includes what is probably the most complete photographic record of the subject in any one book, and both are highly recommended if you are interested in the US airborne assault on D-Day.
As I had said I have a Real Life physical copy of the photo. The insignia on his shoulder is of the 101st.
