This is a good and entertaining read, guys. As said earlier, thanks for the book tips.
Mort, those guys delivering you ammo and other supplies did their job right because you're here to tell us the tale.

Two other books worth a mention Shadow Warriors by Mir bahmanyar former ranger himself, this is a history of the rangers and IMHO very good you read this Mortman? and a fiction book called Night of the Ranger can't remember the author but it was based around some gun dealing ranger trainees being held hostage in the backwoods of nowhere and what the Ranger creed meant in all this quite good and first time i really read about the Rangers and the creed this was about 13 -14 years ago mind you

Yeah i have Shadow Warriors and MIR actually OWNS... the website SUASPONTE.com... Good site as for the Creed i got a small lamited copy in my wallet and they forced us to memorize it in RIP (PRE RANGER SCHOOL.. RANGER INDOCTRINATION PROGRAM) and we said it Daily in the regiment.....

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit-de-corps of the Rangers.
Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.
Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong, and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task, whatever it may be, one hundred percent and then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress, and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor.

    RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

Falcon Those Air force Combat Control team members are just BADASSES... ya rarely hear too much about em but i can tell you They kill more of the bad guys with theyre radios and tac air Man for man then most grunts... theyre STUDS... as are the Pararescuemen.... The CCT team members go thru like 2 years of training... They attend the Army airborne and ranger schools. The Special operations command HALO (HIGH ALTITUDE LOW OPENING) course and theyre own specialized af training... theyre is One team of two assigned to Every ranger Company in the 75th Ranger regiment.... and theyre WONDERFUL...

A Question: is the "Mog" accurately portrayed in the film? I saw the photo that was taken during the battle and it looks nothing like the movie version...

no it didnt look like that... Mog was a cess pool.. the people are incredibly poor living in tar papershacks basicly... I beleive the film was made in morroco... We basicly barged into peoples homes and used one as a causlty collection point/ rally point

Thanks; I had to get cleared on that. The filmmakers said that "Morrocco was like a second Mogadishu" and I was pretty sure that that was ridiculous, in many ways, but I had to hear from a vet to get clear. Thanks :)

My take on Marines is simple.. SOme are good some are bad.. A lot are overrated... ive worked with Marine ANGLICO and Recon marines who were EXCELLENT... also the USMC sniper is one of the most deadly man on the battlefield... but Most marines are Not special operations theyre told they are but theyre not.... the runn of the Mill marine rifleman is no better or worse then His Army leg counterpart...Be like saying Rangers are as good as Seals or SFOD (DELTA) were not, were not funded, trained, or have the experiance of those studs... I do think the Marine corps has the best public relations branch of any service... and theyre overrated....I could say the same for The army 82nd ABN div... once we hit the ground were just light infantry for the most part... and the USMC did spend some time in somalia.. interesting foot note One of the Marines who was a linguist was actually Aiddids son and when aidid died he went back to mog and took over that clan
