please read, and listen to his daughter prevention or punishment?? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6212134.stm
Don't think it matters whether he was a soldier or not, it is an appaulling way to treat any senior citizen. I hope they nail the people responsible, preferably to a bus.
That's the most terrible thing I've heard in a long time! I really hope those offenders are caught! I can't believe anybody would do something like this! It's really upsetting...
Oh come off it TA, if he had posessed a weapon it would have been sod all use anyhow. He thought he was answering the door to a carer and they came in and clouted him. In fact, if firearms were as easily available over here as in the US the only difference would be that the criminals would probably have been carrying them and they probably would have shot him.
To add a more positive tale. Earlier this year a scumbag talked his way into my elderly Great Aunt & Uncles house. Having conned my aunt into looking in the Kitchen for something he entered the living room and began rooting about for stuff to steal. He'd failed to notice my uncle Frank standing behind the door; pushing 90 he may be but not ready to put up with this kind of rubbish he belayed the scumbag around the head with his metal walking stick until he fled. The Police thought there might be a good chance of identifying the suspect due to the amount of blood on Frank's stick. I'm with Stefan that the old soldier angle isn't really relevant, just thought I'd tell of one old ex-POW (captured at Dunkirk, liberated '45) who's still in there fighting. Sometimes the scum get what's coming to them Cheers, Adam.
^ Ha, classic. I don't understand how someone could beat a senior citizen like that. That is just sinking to a whole new level of evil.
I think all rights and rules go out of the window when a guy walks into another guy's house with the intent to cause harm.
Awesome! That's up there with the guys who tried to mug an old chap on rememberance day, as they soon discovered to his cost the chap was a former Royal Marine Commando. He gave them an interesting lesson in self defense until the arrival of several current Royal Marines who finished the argument for them.
vP, please convey our congraculations to your Great Uncle Frank. Someone at his age must have a great experience of life. I probably could not have done what he did. We (young generation) have a lot to learn from our elders. I haven't seen a war or a shortage of food in my life, I hope no one does but I think these experiences make a man stronger.
