how much of your life does ww2 take up?

Michelle - How awesome it is to see a fellow female (is that contradictory?) so interested in WWII...and I have been keeping up with the stories about your parents...keep them coming!
I truly hope that your book will come to a completion some day, oh, and can I have a signed copy?!!

Too much, I'm afraid, of both time and money.

I grew up in the midst of the ruins, rubble and wreckage of WWII.
Aircraft crashsites, shipwrecks, bunkers and fortifications were all around.

There were more than enough to fuel a boy's imagination:
A He 111 here, a Ju 52 there, the German Zerstörers run aground during the battle of Narvik, the HMS Hardy; hulls still above water at that time.

Except for the time I was married (my ex-wife had absolutely no understanding of WWII ), WWII has been my main interest, besides my profession of course, since my childhood.

How much time I spend on WWII today depends on my workload.
Sometimes I can spend an entire weekend just studying books and watching DVDs, then there can be days when I don't give it a thought.

Now when my children has moved out I'm turning one of the bedrooms into a library.
Not a big one, just so I have my books at one place. Now they are all over my house.
May be that's WWII related time too...

Thanks, Lisa. I have a month of posts to catch up! I have to become more diligent at designating writing time. It is so easy to get caught in other activities. I'll let you know when I have the book written - then the trick will be getting someone to publish it! Thanks for letting me know you've enjoyed the stories about my parents.

I don't know a reasonable answer to the topic question but can only say that thanks to both my Mom and Dad, I was weaned on WWII movies. After school for many years, I got my TV doses of WWII stuff from watching COMBAT, Hogan's Heroes, McHales Navy, Baa Baa Blacksheep etc. When I was in the 6th grade, I think my interests for all things WWII exploded into a fascination. 99% of all books I read, HAD to do with WWII.

Later on I branched out for periods of time into other than WWII wars. Then the Militaria sollecting bug struck me and well, this is where im now at. However, it certainly will not get in the way for me to have a great relationship with my more than gal pal-Heather ;-))

 

Always been interested but its only been lately that Ive begun reading WW2 books. It can take me quite awhile to read a WW2 book because Im a mood reader.

I read other books also. Im interested in things such as the crusades, medieval wars, imperial wars, roman wars etc etc. The problem is I dont have any books on these subjects.

 

right now about 4 hours per day due to the fact am working on 2 books, one of them has just opened up a new lease on life after a time of quietness ~

Everyone I know thinks I am nuts. I have to hide a bunch of things when my relatives come over otherwise I have a lot of explaining to do. I started to think I was too until I found sites like this...

Heh heh, so far today and as of this posting, it's been 3 hours 12 minutes and 43 seconds.

 

I think that atleast 50% of everything I do has something to do with WWII.
Visiting websites about it, drawing about it, reading about it, watching programs about it, thinking about it...

That's also way I don't like people's reactions around here when you talk about it. ''You should have been there'' and ''You're obsessed with WWII'' are just a few things I hear when someone (especially my mother & her boyfriend) sees me busy with something WWII related.

That's why I'm glad to see that everyone is just as interested in WWII around here as me.
