    Hi Jeff, thanks for this amazing story!

    I once had a Garand-one of those so-called "Tanker-Garands," but I sold it off to a Garadn collector in 1992 after having a severe case of: "the stupids," because I chose comfort over misery. I had to sell it to buy a new Airconditioner as mine "went farming" during that terrible Summer. At least I still have one thing from that deal-I have a minty all-matching number German K98K Bayonet-which still has about 99% of it's bluing intact.
