It's amazing how many families of Italian origin settled in St Petersburg,Russia. They contracted out marriages for generations due to religious preference but after several generations were eventually absorbed into Russian bloodlines. I found this to be interesting and thought I would share.
Thanx for the info, Vet! I trust they did not move to the USSR in the 1920´s to 1930´s when practically everybody who moved to the "worker´s paradise" was sent to the Gulags...For example many Finns did move to the USSR and did not survie long.
I was in Italy in May was was able to research a bit of my family history. Much of the Italian migration to the US was from the southern, poorer portion of the country, and began in earnest in the 1870's.
