Nice little box Andy there is a similar one for sale at a local militaria dealer here for 40 euros, this would give yo uan idea of the value.

Cheera Andy, I finally could salute ya for the Imperial matchbox. Also, last time I checked-der rittmeister had a few available. This guy gets absolutely great stuff from his "Pickers" in Germany.

 

I just had a look there now, ya i saw one for $85 but it comes with an original carboard matchbox and matchs to fit inside too - looks good so it does.

 

$85.00 sounds slightly high-but as is with most of his stuff. However, this guy is one of few dealers I don't mind paying a bit more with because I know im getting a great piece. BCMC sometimes has these for sale too and sometimes have bargain prices on a few things. Just recently I got what I thought was a bargain on my last purchase fromt hem-which was an unmarked General Assault Badge-of the slightly larger and VERY rare type. It wasn't in great condition b ut-it was still nice enough and I was lucky to be able to snag it before some of the other s could ;-))

Andy, your stuff makes my mouth drool as it is fantastic. Are you teasing me again about my 5th Uhlan Boards and Regimental Cross? ;-)) Seeing your stuff is like dangling a perfectly cooked steak in front of a starved man. Not only do my eyes mist up but the drooling happens ;-))

 

I wish I had known that you colected button-hole ribbonbars? I had a 5 place one that came with a 5 place ribbon bar (but got rid of them in a trade) that had belonged to a Major ot Lt.Col, who was also a Doctor. Both buttonhole ribbon bar and reg ribbon bar were 5 places with the top decoration being I THINK it was called-Henry the Lion??? Knights Cross with swords?? but please correct me if im wrong on this ;-)) Anyway, had I known you collected them-i'd have sent these to you instead of trading them away.

no way that I would try to tease you - it just struck my mind if it makes sense for you to "clinch" onto the 5th Ulan Boards and the regimental cross if you do not have all the other collectables of the 5th...

Heinrich der Loewe (Henry the Lion), Duke of Bavaria and German Emperor in the 12th century, you are correct my friend.

Hi Andy and Danke Danke-thanks for the clarification ;-)) and I was just kiddin about the teasing part :-D I got both Uhlan items from Detlev around 9 or so years ago. I wish I had other 5th Uhlan stuff-any leads on anything affordable? :-D I'd give one of Erichs arms in order to snag a tunic from that Kav Rgmt ;-)) -- sorry E ;-D

Hi Andy, ;-)) it'll be fun and challenging at the same time-to compete with you in finding 5th Uhlan stuff ;-)) Unfortunately-ill have to wait almost 10 more months till my next Birthday-which is in May ;-)) I'd like to send you something for yours-so let me know by PM when it i and ill get "cracking" on something I have in mind ;-))

A couple of years ago I walked the King Ludwig Way in Bavaria, here are a few pictures of War Memorials from along the way. I was surprised at how many contained 1870 casualties and even came across as early as 1805 inside some churches - I don't like taking photos inside churches so I have no pictures of these. Hope you enjoy them.
