I was perusing the Member List and while most people's screen names are straight forward, I was completely dumbfounded as to the source of some. So, here is a thread to tell us how you Rogues came up with your screen names.

I'll start. I picked "Otto" because my name is Otto. Did I mention I'm not very creative?

OK now for you difficult ones like Sloniksp and urqh.

I first thought of using Rommel or Panzermeyer, but simply decided to use my own first name because it´s easier that way, at least for me. ;)

Its not that difficult really...or rather, probably was.....I meant to type in Urqhart, I sort of messed up like one does and errr....left it...I think Ive been urqhagain and urqh1 at times too....Sorry no great mystery otto, just me and my quick fingers....I type at speed of light, and then manage to spell everything wrong...letters all right letters but not necessarilly in the right order...

I too was going to pick Rommel when I first signed, since my interest in WWII started with the Afrika Korps. I decided against it, and since I was also very interested at the Italians at the time, I decided to go with Il Duce - Mussolini. :D

It's my name. It started off as Joe2 as Joe was already taken by an inactive member so Otto kindly sorted that out.

By the way Urqh, how do you pronounce Urqhart anyway? It has been puzzling me for a while.

Well mine is obviously straight forward, but the reason for chosing to display my own name was that I like to know who I'm discussing things with and therefore the other side should know as well.

Other than my adoration of 54mm scale plastic soldiers... I dunno. It seemed good at the time.

Ya'll are welcome to call me Brian if you like.

When I registered I asked Otto what kind of name I ought to choose, and he told to go for something unusual, try something starting with the last letter of the alphabet. Luckily I had bought the previous week a 1837 edition of a Dictionary of Chinese Proverbs, in Bulgarian, and there was this "Do not despise the snake fow having no howns, fow who may say it will not become a dwagon!" which in Bulgarian translates to "Za Rodinu". The Bulgarians are a very concise people, that's why normally other people don't take much notice of them, which is a mistake. Well, the name has stuck since.

I've used my nom de guerre in several forums. My Uncle was a Glider Pilot who was killed going into Normandy.

Mine was a nonsensical word in our family used to describe the very flexible fingers of an uncle of mine. Later on, in the early 90s when I was signing up for an email address, my name was already taken, so I used this name. Like chewing gum on the bottom of your shoe, it has stuck. Seems no one uses this combination of letters, so the name is available when joining websites.

Okay, here's the real reason...Fart Blossom was already taken.

Well, I'm a History graduate, but I've always spent more time living in the past than the present....allegedly! ;)
Was briefly known as RK Awl-O'Gist on an archaeology forum, but got bored with that.

The first forum that I joined a few years ago was Night fighter (computer game that was never finished), so my nick made sense there. Out of laziness I stick with it on all subsequent forums.
