Well Erich, I had thought about that theory, but decided not to throw it in there for the end result. Though it still would not disqualify Hood as being sunk in a soley surface action. I will leave that debate for another day
Kirishima was not scuttled. I have yet to hear any explanation for PE sinking Hood that rates above the fantastical.
I have a french translation of "Schwerer kreuzer admiral Scheer" on the 1940-41 cruise by J. Brennecke and T. Krancke (the Scheer's captain at the time) he claims 21 ships for 151.000 tonns, the discrepacy may be because he includes captures that were not sunk. Please lets's not get into that argument unless someone has some new evidence, and you would need to dive on the Hood's wreck to find that, it's been done to death on the specialist press and possibly some other thread here.
so lets drop it, in fact better yet I will just edit the posting, enjoy the Scheer seite, and yes I have a couple books plus KTB portions of the Schiff Freundeskreis "Admiral Scheer"
Not your mistake, but that of a single Kirishima officer who made the statement for the USSBS and was promptly quoted by everybody in the West.
