Saw that yesterday as well, I remember rushing home from church in Montana after we got a b&w Capehart TV, and with a HUGE aerial we could pick up ONE station out of Great Falls. Walter's 20th Century, was my first introduction to the man. I never tired in all the years since my pre-teens of hearing his voice. It is tied to many memories over the years, it breaking as he announced the death of JFK in Dallas, his almost schoolboy enthusiasm when Armstrong stepped onto the moon.

Just so many memories, he will be missed and as mentioned never matched let alone surpassed.

Walter Cronkite was an investigative reporter and we are left with so few nowadays. He was a remarkable man and was one of those few humans that added quality and depth to the human spirit.

Many of us now depend upon the Internet and bloggers for our news. This is OK but there are serious limitations to this. Please note that I am talking about serious bloggers only.

The problem with this is that most bloggers get their information from other news sources and don't dig for the truth themselves. This is understandable because they have neither the skill nor the resources for this. However, as a result of this and other issues such as the conglomeration of individual news organizations, society is being depleted of true investigative reporters that will search and dig for the truth without worrying about anyone's agenda.

Walter Cronkite was from an old breed and one wonders what the future of the news media will be without these searchers and diggers of the truth.

I just saw that as well prior to coming here. Walter was a great Journalist and will be greatly missed by all. Rest in Peace Walter :mourn: :salute:

Clint-I remember him when he was on the Nightly News when I was a yonker. I even then at such a young age-like his broadcasts. I too also remember his The Twentieth Century-the original one over the later one.
