I think a ww2 model tank can kind of count. Really wow if only they were that much today that would mean nearly everyone could have one.

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated things on the truck, hope we can get more of this vehicle's forum "rolling"... college has kept me pretty busy:eek:
Here are a couple pictures of an original tipper bed we were able to get for our CCKW. It will be the focus for the next part of the work on the CCKW. Enjoy!

My roommate's father used to have a restored Kubelwagen. I'll see if I can dig up any pictures.

Thanks, glad to be here! I can't take credit for the restoration- I only added some details like cleaning up the engine area and adding "eye-candy".

    Howdy all,

Got a jeep, its name is Traveler....2/1/1944. I did a complete, and I mean complete restoration less data tags (matching numbers didn't remove the original) a couple years back. Just waiting for the snow to leave so I can go for a ride. We still have over three feet of snow so it will be a bit. I'll try to add some photos, hope they attach. I will give you one of the before and after.

Looks like quite a while since someone's been on here! Just joined the forum in the last week or so. Have a 42 GPW (with the script Ford on the back) that has been partially restored. Saving up the money to actually take it off the frame and clean it down properly.

You might want to contact Alan (George Patton). He has quite a collection of vehicles. I think he would be happy to swap ideas and tales with you.

Very nice GPW. Feel free to PM if you have any questions. As Lou said, I have several MVs.

    Cheers

When I was about 12 my dad bought a 1944 Willy's Jeep from the local air force base, Craig Field Field, Selma, Al. I actually drove a Massey -Ferguson tractor first but learned how to really drive in that Jeep. We kept it running for years but when the farm was sold the Jeep went with it. Very beaten up but truly original !!!.

As for the comment about driving stick shifts, I am 77 and have never owned an automatic transmission-ed car. How do you drive an automatic ????
