UK; Just back and it was worth the price of the ticket. I guess I was surprised that it was more about intrigue than a shootemup. The final "gotterdammerung" was great, and a huge improvement over the "how it actually went." Thanks. JeffinMNUSA
I've seen the original and don't plan on seeing the remake-unless there is a second remake planned. The original was a stinker to say the least and I have no faith in quenten-boy or in any of his movies. Also, I can't stand quent and hated any of his movies I ever saw parts of. Also, quentin in this film is making the Germans look rather childish and inept just like in the old hollywood days when they made WWII propaganda movies. Had quent decided to fairly portray the Germans too, I MIGHT have decided to give his version of a Turkey of a story-a chance. PS, i've seen enough different commercials and such advertising this movie to know that I would only wind up hating it so, I figure to save my $8.50 so that I can put that to good use and spend it on more Militaria. ;-)) PSS, One might dress up a Turkey to try to look like a Peacock, but even so, the Turkey is still, a Turkey ;-D
I can understand you not paying to see it but to calling it a turkey when you not seen it daft Like I said before the film not a remake Look like you hate Tarantino as much has I hate John Wayne films
cod means bad,its an old expression like jax,i heard some other people say inglorious bastards was good, seems to be a real love it/hate it film which means i'll probably like it. I agree with you on cruise but at least he bears a passing resemblence to the real guy.
UK; It's a "Hogan's Heros" type cartoon-plain and simple. A well done, clever "Hogan's Heros" type cartoon with some amazing twists of plot-and satiric jabs for everybody (including us bumpkin Americans!). That the main charactor turns out to be "you-know-who"? I don't think anything like it has ever been done in a film story line before. At any rate before the gay community gets all offended they should remember that it is just a cartoon. JeffinMNUSA
I have seen it and I loved it, then again i guess i am biased, not because of tarrantino i dont see anything special with him as a director, but ive been drewling over this movie since january and ive read the script online so i knew going into it that i would really love it. A few points i wanted to make: -there were a few scenes that were not in the film and i was a little upset about, but When the directors cut dvd comes out i know they will be included like the backstory on Donny Donowitz's bat for instance. -I really enjoyed the likes of Christoph Waltz and Mélanie Laurent i think the casting was well done. -I wish there was more scenes with the basterds, but this was really 2 stories coming together, and Shosanna had the story while the basterds had the killing so I understand why maybe there scenes were in between the real story. -Huge fan of Ennio Morricone's work one of the greatest masters of music and composure in a film in my mind. He did part of the soundtrack for Inglorious Basterds, and to me the scenes where his composures were played those scenes really became better by the music behind it carrying the scene along. Just like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly how the music carried the movie along, infact imo without the soundtrack the movie would not grab you and pull you in as it does. So it was really good that tarrantino was able to get Morricones work in the movie. -Finally, Its Antonio Margheriti  loved that scene.
ooo, war has been declared!! Just kidding. I do see it from the point of view in not having an opinion on something befores seeing it. It's also the fact that brad pitt is in it and I can't stand him either.
Brad Pitt was rather well in this, though i can't say ive seen much others where i would say he was good in, though i did like the other basterds in the film, roth, novack, and schweiger
I'm quite 'torn' on this one - it's generally had the most awful drubbing at the hands of UK reviewers ( sample headling : 'A Nazi Piece Of Work' from The Guardian...). But I agree that you can't really criticize unless you've actually seen it.......
I think you may like it Martin There one bit where the Bastards are in a bar & it reminds me of "where Eagles Dares " it was that good
I proabably wont be able to bring myself to watch this movie, perhaps in a few months. I find it too: "Badass-hip fire-Call of duty/ kill a million Germans-superhero" for my tastes. Although I will see it eventually.
UK; And I could not help but notice that the film critic got killed almost off the airplane. JeffinMNUSA
I wonder if the Dirty Dozen or Kelly's Hereos came out today what many on here would think of them? I mean they are both loads of fun but not high on accuracy of story? Have yet to see this but will this week. When I go I will try not to scrutinize uniforms and period too much and just watch for fun. Now I am usually that history guy that freaks out like no Bridge in Braveheart and wrong uniforms in movies.
