    Well,

It's hard to say, as many of the units at the time were new i.e. Para, SAS, LRDG etc, but my choices would be,

Britain, - a combat engineer attached to the airborne.
German, - a combat engineer attached to the airborne (did they have them in the Fallshirmjaeger?) or SS (cos it was an elite, not because of what it stood for or believed)
US, - a combat engineer attached to the airborne.
Russian, - anti-tank gunner 1941-42, ground attack airplane pilot 1943-45.
France, - a white flag holding POW! or the foreign legion [IMG]

1st preference would be to serve in pattons army during there rescue to the 101st airborne strandard in bocage.

2nd preference would have to be the rangers storming up omaha beach.

Or maybe a French soldier around Lille who were given full military honours on surrendering to Germans after saving the British Armys backside towards Dunkirk, or the French soldier or naval marine who defended the Dunkirk perimeter with his British colleagues, or a French commander in the Dunkirk Bastion co-ordinating the defence of the rearguards to enable us to ship off the French beaches?

Or maybe even the French soldier who knowing there would be no surrender at Calais fought on to the end with his British colleagues?

Fortunately, they were squashed like the little tattletelling back-stabbing bugs that they really are.

I had to look it up but to save someone else the trouble it was mobile killing squads that the Germans created during the war.

These would come in handy for the people in Austin Texas who have cars but can't drive ! :D

If I couldn't get assigned to A,B,C, or D. I'd like to be an aide to SS-Oberführer Dr. Oskar Dirlewanger.

Wasn't Dirlewanger as psychotic, if not more so, than Hitler? Seems I remember that he was imprisoned for a number of heinous crimes before the war including the rape of young girls....
