Friedrich would be nice to have here every now and then if nothing else but I think he´s not gonna do that... For a young man he sure knew his WW2 history.
I think he joined a monastery, not sure if he wanted to be a monk but he experienced a deep religious awakening some years ago.
Yes Carl, sitreps (situation reports) are welcome. Hopefully there have been no serious problems with them.
people have other jobs, retirement, move out of country and away from the internet....heaven forbid ! and last but not least lack of interest. some literally fade off the planet if you go back and see how many of us were around in 01/02, not very many and many have left of their own free will.
There have been a few that I've wondered about in the year or so that I've been here....Wolfy, and SMLE Shooter to name a couple. Does that above mean urgh is leaving? Or is he just going to check if his sheep laid some eggs...or was it laid him? I can't remember what he told me they try to do...
I guess that means Urqh is backing out of the bet me and him made. Perhaps he has finally come to see the light...that Liverpool won't qualify for Champions League, that is. As for MIA's, for some I think they 'burn out' or simply move on to other forums, or their free time gets occupied with other hobbies, family, or school. I've been around these forums longer then anyone other then Otto, so have seen literally hundreds come and go. Some seem to stick, some seem to flake off. Some leave, then come back, then leave again.
I miss Freddy too, from a flamboyant novelist and opera singer (he was going to get me tickets when he was in covent garden too!) to a monk, If I didn't know better I'd think it was something we'd said!
Considering what Friedrich was doing, operas, "being diva", travelling the world and singing to loads of people, and shopping alot etc on his trips, and what was possible for him to achieve, it seems pretty absurd ( to me that is ) that he´d leave it all but then again, if God calls I guess you gotta answer! At least he could have saved the ww2f as a hobby...
Let's face it, nothing short of god could have calmed him down! It's almost enough of a miracle to turn me into a believer! Stevin was a good chap too, and that C. Evans feller who posted once or twice, I wonder what happenned to him....
Can you report on how that enterprise is going. I certainly wish him the best of luck with it. Not an easything to do in the best of times.
...and I'm delighted to say that he's back recently to make a few posts. He's had a lot going on in his life, things like moving house and starting a family.....
Hello all and especially Luketdriver, I have a confession to make. I am SMLE Shooter. I started a new account because I lied about my age on the previous one and was ashamed of it. BTW, Moderators and Administrators, if you have to ban both me and SMLE Shooter than I understand. But I would still like to participate on this forum.
I think maturity is more an issue than the chronological number you're assigned. Your comming clean shows great depth of integrity; but, the fact you (SMLE Shooter) were less than honest shows considerable lack of judgment. I'll give you a second chance, for what my opinion is worth. Brad
I agree and thank you. Now, I have yet to hear from the mods. I would still like to be a member of this forum whether I post under SMLE shooter or Christian Snyder.
I correspond with him over on ww2t from time to time. He's give up on the restaurant business and moved on without serving the first bowl of soup. He ran into lots of problems with the local government in securing permits, licenses, zoning, etc and decided that it wasn't going to be worth it in the long run. Too many hoops to jump through like it is here. The small "mom & pop" shops have a hard time everywhere it seems.
I sure hope i'm one of them. Your a stand up fellow and one of the first members on this forum to welcome me. THANKS FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP! Respectfully, Scott
Where is Jemima at? I miss seeing his posts around here, very nice personality for a forum like ours.
