    Hello all

Today my friend came to me with the tail fin of what I presume to be a German incendiary bomb. He found it in whilst digging in his garden in Coventry.

After searching I have not been able to positively identify which type of Incendiary device this is (if it is indeed an incendiary)

There are six fins on the tail and three holes running through the body, on the base there is a metal cap which unscrews with ease. On one of the fins I can make out the text Z(eroded)1941-1.

Following a search I came across the [IMG] photograph which was taken by a gentleman who uncovered this near cambridge. It appears to be the same type of tail fin that I have here, although mine is in much better condition.

If anybody is able to identify the device I would be extremely grateful, also any images of the complete device as it would have appeared or any further info to show my friend would be very welcome.

    Thank you

    Ashleigh Wright

:D:D:D... Need two monitors to fit that image in...

Try holding Ctrl whilst pressing minus (-) to zoom out enough to be able to see it...

My apologies guys, just linked the image in from another site and was quite surprised myself to see how big it was.

I have resized the image and attached it

Looks like the tail-end of a mortar round.

Yes, a British 2-inch mortar tail-fin. Lot's of those have been, and are still being, found.
