The Winter War is often overlooked here in the States, unfortunately. The Finnish pride and will is so inspirational.
Word, Fallschirmjäger! I have suggested this before, but Hollywood really should do something about it. Who knows, in their version we might even win.
I think it depends on the actors, if Tom Cruise plays the role of a Finnish man (God forbid this ever happens) then I think he fights the Russians all by himself, and wins. Hollywood sucks like that.
Well, they might win the battles, but they are going to lose the war. Especially when the spring thaw arrives. Of course we all know that that's the way it really happened, and if Hollyweird ever got a hold of the storyline, they might accidently portray it that way. I agree that it's a great story, and very much overlooked here in the states in the history books and in the movies. Who knows one day....
There is a nice flick on the winter war, called the winter war. By the Finns themselves. (I ken there is a lot more finnish films about the war, but this one captured many good points)
Netflix doesn't have it on DVD just yet. When it becomes available, I'll add it to my que. Looking forward to it.
I think you can watch long sections of the winter war movie in the youtube. I think we have a thread "winter war" in the films section you can look for and find the links, or go straight to youtube and search "winter wae" there.
My my, how time flies... 71 years today. Once again, I salute all those men, who went through the 105 days of icy hell.
