I've been prowling around this site for a week now and I just love it. I'm researching my grandfather's role in WW2 and this site is most helpful. I had no idea what I was getting into. I"m totally addicted now. Any war story hooks me. Any suggestions on good books to read/buy? See you around!
Take a look through the WW2 books section and the sub-forum of book reviews. There are literally hundreds of books mentioned, discussed, and reviewed. I'm sure you will find something to pique your interest.
Just for starters, Atkinson's first two (of three) on US involvement, An Army at Dawn and The Day of Battle. The third volume is due out I think in 2011. Also, Hornfischer's Last Stand fo the Tin Can Sailors about the battle off Samar. There are many others, but a look at the lit forum will be a worthwhile activity.
G'day matey. It is easy to get hooked here on this forum, that is without a doubt, please enjoy your stay with us.
