Hi John, I visited the Castle there back in Oct 2000-when my stay in germany was about over. Then they were also doing some maintenance work on the castle and I couldn't go inside any building there except for the Cathedral there. I witnessed a Wedding while there.

Oh and-please don't tell the authorities that I managed to find and swipe a fairly large size chunk of that stone which the castle was built from.

Other than visiting the Cathedral, I saw in an open Courtyard area a place that had many statues placed in spots on a large wall. After visiting the Castle-I took the cable car down into the City as I was too tired to walk down. I was also carrying 4 Bier Steins that I had bought there in one of the giftshops located outseide the castle walls. My fav of the four is a Red Baron stein.

Anyway, after leaving the castle-I went to go eat dinner at Zum Rothsen Ochsen-restaurant/inn. I had one of my best meals in Germany there.

Ah Carl, sweet fond memories are with me too. What a place. The train down the hill is certainly very steep. I had a funny moment there with my German partner, she will never let me forget another nationality sporting my national dress, the Kilt. Now its meant to be that once the kilt is put on, you kneel and the hem should touch the ground, if it fits properly. Not so with this other man, it was more like a mini skirt. Here are some pics of the day we had there. Now that is a man in a skirt!

    Sütterlin script! :headbash:

But this one is easy to decipher. It also shows off the man's sense of humor..."Schönheit der Arbeit"- Beauty of the Work.

Hi Carl, it reads Schönheit der Arbeit which translates "beauty the work" or I suppose beautiful work.

You're welcome, if you look close enough you can see the Church that's below. There seem to be more houses next to it nowadays though.:)

I took Mr Skipper there for our 10th anniversary, it was quite a trip and we are still debating whether the Mösel wines or Alsace wines are better

Hi Erich, so sorry to hear of your in-laws plight. It certainly isnt easy to watch and be totally helpless. There is not a single thing you can say to ease the situation. I know. Take care mate.

I'm not really good with those old handwritings but I think it reads "Meine Gruppe" ("my section") a few pictures above.

Oh and also think it's not "Stürmann" but "Sturmmann" which is a rank I suppose although I'm not familiar with this. And the location in the beginning is Radolfzell near Bodensee. (sorry for being such a smartass)
