Eberhard Heder. This was one of the first I sent out and that when I thought 8x10's were the way to go. He wrote a very warm letter back and signed this one as well as a smaller one he enclosed

This is what our living room looks like right now. I have received a total of 12 more responses and had to suspend framing till after Christmas. I will be adding to this starting next week. This has been a great success in terms of responses. I am sad that I ddint do this sooner to have been able to contact some of the ones who have passed away. I think it is great that the majority of suriving RKT's are willing to take the time to respond to people. I already had respect based on thier service and experiences but this has increased my respect for them as people, not just a name in a book or documentary

Stadler signature looks fine , not sure about the Wuensche sig have you checked it against known originals as they have been faked since his death ?

Hit the jackpot today! I received a reply from Ludwig Bauer, and he signed the photos I sent plus he included two of his own photos (also signed), as well as a map of his division's advances throughout Europe (the 9th PzD) and a little biography sheet. What a nice guy!

You should, he has the same sort of enthusiasm for sharing his past as Herr Regeniter (who also made copies of maps, personal photos, etc.)
Has anyone heard from Erwin Kressmann recently? I haven't heard back from him and it's been almost four months.

Just received a reply from Hugo Broch. He signed all pics and included a nice photo of him and Hajo Hermann in 2010, in what looked like them visiting Sanssouci Palace together in Berlin on a holiday.

Heinz Hermann Remmert sent me a letter and signed some pics for me. Nice guy! He said he was signing his photo in remembrance of his comrades who didn't survive the struggle in Russia.

I received a letter and photos today from Rudolph Salvermoser. He was a GD panzer officer and also assgned for a time at the Wolfsschanze as a sentry. He later fought in Narwa and the Ardennes. His story can be found at the website feldgrau.com. He wrote us a very nice letter that highlighted his career in both the GD division and after the war in the US Army. A very informative letter and he also signed the pictures we sent to him.
Not a KC winner but still a man who witnessed many parts of the history that I love to study. Will post the pics and such later

I must correct my last post. Herr Salvermoser did not fight in the Ardennes. He was wounded at Narva and was recuperating when his unit was sent to the Ardennes

Has anyone here contacted Heinrich Steinmeyer from the 12th SS Panzer division? He's still alive, and aparently enjoys writing people back who have interest in his military career. Any info?

Hi me and Heinz go way back and he recently had a stroke at christmas and is now in a nursing home, he used to send me and my family a big chocolate hamper every Xmas for years, i have plenty letters and fotos of him. I was working on a short Bio of him,but time will tell if it gets finished, it was for when he dies as he is coming to Scotland to have his ashes scattered near camp 21, which is just up the road from me. I could enquire about you writing him.

Did you guys know that Gerhard Simons, winner of the RK and oakleaves, wrote a book about his life? He sent one to me a couple weeks ago, and it is fascinating. It covers his family (his grandfather was president of germany in 1925), his wartime experience - ,including many photos of himself in uniform, with hitler, documents of his awards, transcripts from his regiment, etc- his fighting around leningrad and so on, and his life after the war as vice president of ITT Europe. Its called "Lebensstufen". He is a really great writer. See if you can find it!
