    Salutations....

I am not much of a fan of 'Star Trek. I do have some questions concerning it, that I hope the Rogues can answer....

Q1: If the crew of a starship can convert themselves to light photons and 'beam' everywhere, to the ship and back....why do they need the "Enterprise"?

Q2: Why does the medic in "Star Trek" treat EVERY patient with a similar looking device...one that has coloured lights, that you place against your skin while it goes "FWISSK"...and cures you. So the question is, has surgery been made obselete?

Q3: Why do Spocks ears get progressively longer as the series rolls on?

Q4: Why does the character of WES, in the "....Next Generation" consistently 'save the day', surrounded as he is by better qualified and wordly officers of the "Enterprise"? For that matter, what is he doing wandering the corridors of power when he should be in the "Enterprise High School"?

Q5: The character of "Data" is consistently mispronounced as "Day-ta", which brings in the idea of "Date-er". So, I must therefore ask, is he gay?

Paul Hogan featured a wonderful "Star Trek" skit, disappearing into the women's powder-room to "Boldly go where no man has gone before..."...

Paul was a very funny comedian in his day....:D

Transporter range is limited, between ships, between ship and planet. I've never seen it used even between planets in the same system.

"Wes" started out as Dr. Crusher's son, went to Star Trek academy, and was a bit of a genius prodigy all through the series. I don't know why Vulcun ears get longer, perhaps it is an individual trait like big ears and long fingers in humans, or maybe they get longer (or shorter) with age.

As to the surgery, yes for the most part surgery is a "thing of the past", I recall an original episode with "Bones" (Dr. McCoy) when he was privy to an "old hospital" and it's environs and he came out with a look of horror on his face mumbling about "medieval tortures" and such.

As to Data's name and pronunciation, I think you would have to ask Dr. Suung for that answer. Who was also played by Brent Spinner BTW.

In the film Star Trek (2009), we learn that the team can transport to the Enterprise whilst it is moving at warp speed, and that transport between planets is easy

    Ahh the good times

Fire all Thrusters, prepare for jump!

As I have not seen Star Trek (2009), and am basing my answers on the two TV series, the original and The Next Generation, I won't argue with how they are using the transporter in this new version.

    :D
I heard it was balls . Volga Boatman are you trying to pull a fast one? Star Track  I see your very enthusiastic about these, you sound like you dress like a Treky:D OK I'LL Play

Q1: If the crew of a starship can convert themselves to light photons and 'beam' everywhere, to the ship and back....why do they need the "Enterprise"?

Yes Light Photons, :D But the Beam has a traveling distance, just like the Real Enterprise the planes only had a distance before they needed to return back to the USS Enterprise. The Ship is Home Base of operations. If not they would beam back to what, empty Space.

Q2: Why does the medic in "Star Trek" treat EVERY patient with a similar looking device...one that has coloured lights, that you place against your skin while it goes "FWISSK"...and cures you. So the question is, has surgery been made obselete?

We are in make Believe La La Land so why not? One Medical Tool Fixes everything, Hurrayyyyyyy. I surprised you haven't seen all the Old Episodes with Kirk, McCoy used one tool with that Light.

In the Westerns selling the Tonic's that if you drank it It Cured everything, with special Medicinal properties. Keep you Strong And Young.

FWISSK You say :D Yes Today Laser Surgery, Nano Bots robotic,+++

Like McCoy Stated: We Got to get Him Back Jim! You don't know what Those 20 century Neurologists are going to do with Him, Their Butchers. That's the one with the Wales, Viger needs the creator AKA Voyageur

Q5: The character of "Data" is consistently mispronounced as "Day-ta", which brings in the idea of "Date-er". So, I must therefore ask, is he gay?

:wtf-slide: Data, Day-Ta Is Gay, He had the Hole Package and fully functional. Well He was boinking :pelvicthruster: that women the Security officer. So Not Gay unless you changed his Program :D

I didn't go see it in the theatre and I wish I would have, fortunately the cast has signed on to do at least 2 more. Seeing it on DVD allows you to watch it a few times so you can pick up the subtle things. My advice is to watch it through once without replaying or stopping and then watch it at least twice more.

The real answer here is: You need to get a life if you think these are important questions!

Those can't even be compared. Star Wars is more like Battle Star Galactica and Star Trek is more Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
