Hi I've just joined the forum. My intentions are to find out more information about and for my Dad who enlisted in the RNVR from South Africa. He is now three months short of his 90th birthday.

He served for part of the War on HMML 380 of the 49th M.L. Flotilla spending a lot of time in Burma. I've got a card that he sent home in Christmas of 1943 which has on it a picture of HMML 380.

His memory of the time is pretty sharp and so hopefully I can, via him, be of help to others seeking information.

    Hello

Would you be able to ask your Dad if he's ever heard of my grandfather (James 'Paddy' Mooney DSM). He was from Cape Town and was a crew member on the HMSAS Natal as well as a popular amateur boxer.

    Kind regards,

    Phil

Hi Phillip. I spoke to my dad about your grandfather. He remembers the name and that he was a boxer and thinks he boxed at Gordon's Athletic Club in Woodstock in Cape Town (where my Dad is from). Never served with him though in the war.
