Interesting that 6 of the top 16 teams are SEC teams. The Crimson Tide plays all the other 5. I don't do a lot of gloating. Besides, respect for Paterno and the Penn State team prevents me. If PSU can settle that QB down, he will be formidable.
I don't know if it's the quarterback so much as the offensive line. The kid looked under pressure most of the game.
Lou, I thought the O-line was adequate. I knew coming in they would have problems against the Alabama Defenses superior speed, but was satisfied with how they moved the ball. What was the biggest problem in my own mind, was the way the secondary was picked to pieces. Joe Pa has always had problems in the secondary when facing anyone with a QB who can throw the ball well. I still think the O-line is a problem, but maybe not as big of one as I thought to begin the year. Only time will tell.
The Tide secondary looked a bit weak. A good, experienced QB would have had a far better game. He was not sacked a single time, was he. McElroy was, twice I think. Mac had the poise to stay in there and still make a good decision. The PSU QB's youth was evident in some of the choices he made. That "fumble, run back, fumble, let's check the replay" play seemed to break the back of PSU.
Well now, that was a "near run thing" wasn't it Jeff. It looked sort of bleak for almost three quarters, and then luck, skill, and talent came to the fore. The Razorbacks almost could have given your boys a "sad ride home" though.
Yeah it was, Clint. But you know, it isn't like it was 5-6 years ago. Down like that, we knew the game was lost back then. Now it is different. I told my daughter at the start of the second half that the Crimson Tide was going to win and reminded her again at the start of the 4th quarter. It is just a different feeling about the team. I know one day (maybe next week) that loss will raise it's head over Alabama. In the meantime...
Well, The Crimson Tide played about like I thought they would, but Florida was horrible. I'd like to say to the Gator fans "good game," but really it wasn't for them and they probably know it. Alabama wasn't spectacular, although the defense reminded me strongly of the squad from last year, bending but never quite breaking. The offense was passable but more or less did not show up the second half. Florida helped all around by self-destructing throughout the game. They were not the team I was expecting to show up in Tuscaloosa. RTR
How 'bout them Dawgs? Ran Lane Kiffin out the building..literally! What a piece of crap that Kiffin is. I'm just happy they beat USC because of that guy. Made this in Photoshop to show my appreciation for U-Dub:
I'm so glad that the PAC-10 now has Kiffi-kins. He was, uh, not a "good fit" for the SEC and he was the focus of most of the other team's ire, mostly because of his off-field BS. It was apparent that even the coaches from other teams did not like him, since they took any opportunity to get a subtle dig in on him. The Crimson Tide has a strong, longstanding rivalry with Tennessee, second only to the Barn. UTK is only East Division team that The Crimson Tide plays every year and is known as the Third Saturday in October. Kiffin's presence in Knoxville only intensified the bitterness between the two teams, a bitterness that has lessened significantly since his departure. RTR
Don't you think USC and UW don't hate "Lame" Kiffin. My younger cousin who goes to UW said they saw fans from both sides throwing bottles and garbage at him initially at the end of the game. He won't last in college football and GOD FORBID..That he wont ever get into the NFL
It is good to know that he is so well loved there, also. The way USC has been hobbled, it is going to be hard for him to do much winning and if he does not win, he won't be making many friends among the fan base. Breaks my heart. His daddy's defense is what kept UTK in games here in the SEC.
The Buckeyes didn't last long in the #1 spot, the Badgers really embarassed them in Madison yesterday.
What is the BCS standing now? Oklahoma, Oregon, and Boise State in the top three with Alabama still holding at #8? I wonder where Auburn and LSU will "shake out" later?
Orygun ranked numero # 1...........I really cannot believe it, personally do not think they have played teams of the upper caliber
