Hi guys just been offered this belt from a collector , no nothing on these but im assuming there rare as all para us stuff seems to be. Can anyone tell me what i should pay for it and if its real , im told its 100% genuine Regards Dean
the belt could be o.k. but doubtful on the buckle, WWII?... would it make sense to advertise your unit? ugh! ugh! dean..
From the absolute shortage of copies of this buckle online I have to think is not original - closest to it I could find were supposedly 50s or 60s but not certain. The double rivet belt end seems to not be a ww2 thing although that could just be shortage of net info. The coloured enamel would surprise me for a wartime belt i think
Got to agree with you but its coming from a good source, i must admit been looking my self and cant find another, but that could be good.Bit stuck now dont know what to do, do i make an offer on it and if so how much
here's a surprise? I've just seen this very same item being questioned on another forum? you dean? or seller..
Im the person maybe buying lol probably the seller has posted it to find the price out. He is a collector of english millitary items not american. He emailed me the pics
one of the replies dean.. 82nd Airborne belt how old is it? - Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums from this link dean.. Normally I'd say this dates from the 1950s from the construction....but since it's totally unofficial it could be earlier....the belt certianly "could" be WW2 (or 50s)...... Really impossible to know for use unless you knew the source....wouldn't be typical for WW 2 (putting unit designations on pants belts wouldn't be too good for secrecy purposes.....) but may have been done right after the war.... Not really much help.....but more food for thought. I put it just postwar myself. John G.
That's a PX buckle or souvenir buckle. Not a piece of authorized uniform issue, although it may have been approved for wear. https://82ndairbornedivisionmuseum.com/cube/belt-buckles/cat_59.html?ccUser= $5-$10.00 (US) if I had to guess and really is only of value if you are trying to assemble a post WW2 era PX. As for the belt being WW2 that is wuite possible as the military has used that same standard 1 5/8 " web belt forever and every buckle is interchangable.
