Attached is a document I found in my grandfather's things. I would love to have it translated! He brought home a Hitler's Youth dagger and I was curious if they were related. Sorry for the bad scan... old document...
The underlined word indicates that this is some kind of call-up order or draft notice. I don't have the time to plug the rest of it into the translator. With luck, one of our German speakers can tell you what it is specifically.
Thanks! I tried the online translator without any luck... I guess because there are a few letters missing here and there. I figured someone on here would actually be able to translate it correctly.
Hi duckydps, This is a service call for an Hitlerjungen into the Volkssturm at the end of war. Than there are some threats in it if he wouldn´t follow this order. For a complete translation i will need some time.
It tells the boy (born 1929, so he had to be 15 or 16) that he had to join the Volksturm and do his duty. If he failed to do so he would face hevy punishment as well as his familly or those who were responsible for him. It furhthers tells when and where he has to meet , who gave the orders and what he was suppose to bring (blankets, cutterly, a canteen, food and a rucksack, . To be noticed that this is 3 weeks before the end of the war. The note is vey imperial and used the "Du" (second person singular , to show the boy he is a subordonate) The HJ knife is possibly related and could well have belonged to this boy called K......... (Konrad?) Tobesberger from Freistadt Germany
Well I wonder if there is a Konrad Tobesberger in the Freistadt white pages? The man would be 81 now. Or may his descendents. It would be interesting to hear what happened to the poor boy who was drafted only three weeks befor ethe end of the war. Btw is this Freistadt the one in Austria?
Possibly a familly member. who knows he might know something . I don' think he was a casualty and his name is not mentionned on the Volksbund fallen database
Thanks for all the replies! Sorry its been so long since I have been on but its been very interesting to read what you guys have posted!
