My Generation Scares Me.

There are always going to be "divisions" of people. We're not all destined for a leadership role or become captains of industry. Indeed, the majority of people are NEEDED to have low expectations and desires from life. Who would run your groceries across the scanner?
All one can do is live the life one feels is right. In 99% of cases, the nerd who cannot get a girl, is the same guy drivng a ferrari and juggling 3 relationships at once fifteen years later...The cool guy is the divorced with kids guy whos arguing about his car being repo'd. Life has a way of catching up...just look after yourself.

I'm 15 and I'm looking at this generation like it's something the family dog left on the front lawn. I can't see the line of good taste anymore. It always seems like they're growing up too fast. If we were going to watch a movie, it has to be something that involves at least one of the following: profanity, sexual situations, violence, high level action, hot chick, nice guy, dirty humor, anything that would get cut or censored by the FCC. I'm starting to worry about us. If this is what our nation will become when these people graduate, I don't want to think about what'll happen. Guys are dressing like rappers, girls dressing like pop stars that lost their way, it's starting to fall apart. After watching too much classic movies, I've adopted the 40's style ideal, where people would just show some decency and respect. I just want to see the day where kids would just listen to their parents, do their homework by the fireplace, play catch with the father after dinner, and go to bed ready for school the next day with no complaints. Today just isn't the case. Younger kids are adopting older behaviors and getting away with it. If the amount of profanity we spit out per day measures our IQ, then we have every right to be worried. By the time this generation grows up, we will definetly screw up the entire world. Little girls are dressing in skimpier outfits and showing more than they have to or are allowed to show. Guys are dressing like gangster rappers just 'cause they want to look "cool" when they just look like failed cosplayers. They talk the talk, but they can't walk the walk. Heck, the kids who play games like Black Ops end up joining the military just to shoot someone and can't handle it. It's people like that that make people like me have to go to a psychology session to talk me out of suicide. However, I would not just blame the child. I would blame the parent as well for exposing them to this as well as allowing them to continue like this. At least teach them some morals to help them behave for once. I am in an AP class and sometimes I would see my classmates acting like this during recess, lunch, or after school. Don't get me started on my PE class. They all act tough, but they're a bunch of idiots. If anyone here knows anyone of this generation who fits the criteria stated in this post, tell them to shape up or ship out or else they will never succeed in the real world.

 

i'm showing my age a little but mate, this happens in every generation (although its usually cyclic). You should have ssen the girls and boys in the 60s...Shortest skirts ever, if you didn't flash you undies you were a square...The boys dressed like mods or rockers, smoked, drank, swore and chased skirt...I think its just kids!
Having said that, there are surveys and reports that show that now more than ever, youth crime is at its worst, illiteracy IS at its worst for many years, teen sex getting younger, now below teen into 12. And more kids than ever presenting with drug problems...This is indeed a worry. The problem i fear though is NOT with the kids of today, but the PARENTS of today, its parenting that has fallen by the ways side...and our kids show the result of it.

Indeed!

The problem with every generation is the proverbial word change. Change is hard for many as technology blossoms forth with the newest gadgets, newest problems and ultimately, the newest headaches. Also morals that should be taught by our parents are restricted due to loose lips screaming to CPS or social workers insinuating some kind of "abuse"; as many parents have lost control in raising their children.

Kids are stimulated by the false gods on the television/music saying that "it's okay to do <this and this and this>" as the television and technology have become the new parents when true human interaction has failed. Many of today's generation have lost their way with the liberalism of careless free will.

Sadly and surely, the baby boomers are now becoming retirees and the World War 2 generation has a spackling left to tell the tales of true bravery, heroism, angst and adventures they have endured. Many can teach you much about how is it to truly live...

Seeing each and every one of you teenagers shows me that there is truly hope for your generation...along with mine..

 

Guest what I was in english to day and I got to give my class of 10th graders a history lecture of the cold war what the soviet union was they were shocked and surprise at me I wasnt even a big deal that was the basic stuff that every one should know by high school its like they never read a book been for.
O and i forgot my ROTC instructur apprently got tick off and took one to the idiots in a head lock i think.............

I'd highly recommend "My Generation" performed by The Who. Who have seemed to ffffaded away. ...Now I can't get that song out of my head.

 

I don't know perhaps we should keep some perspective I can recall as a teenager my father hearing the music I listened to, Genesis, Kansas, Pink Floyd and such, and being quite convinced I had been switched at birth with an alien.

 

Would the alien know it was an alien? Is the alien making that post? Hmmm. I've got my eye on you B.....Who was the MVP in 1943 World Series? If you can't answer that, you're prolly an alien. ..Or from Texas.

If I'm not mistaken the 1943 Series (Yankees v Cardinals) was the first one to use the seven game format, due to war restrictions on travel. And most of the "stars" were in the service at the time. Then wasn't it until the 1950s that an MVP of the series was chosen? If so then the answer to your question would be "nobody" was the MVP.

I started to loose real interest in MLB when they started going on strike and shortening the season. I was never too pleased with the owners using players up and trading them off in their twilight years either, but the series of strikes by the players didn't endear me to them either. I haven't followed a team for over forty years, back then I really was a Giants fan, left over from Willy Mays I guess.

 

You know I couldn't agree more! I'm tired of walking around school and seeing nothing but a whole bunch of people wearing punk rock or ghetto clothes, it pisses me off, and the amount of sexually related things every talks about. Don't get me wrong, I like a little bit of modern rap and other music, but I don't take it to the extent where I want to be like those people. Every generation has it's own thing, but ours is ridiculous.
