This is my first 1940 Somme medal. It was awarded to soldiers who fought either in 1916 or in 1940 on the Somme front . This is therefore a very special medal that could be awarded to both WWI or WWII soldiers. Only a few were awarded this in 1940 because of the Armistice. It is much rarer than the Dunkirk Medal and about as difficult to get as the Belgian Gembloux one.

Thanks kai, this has always been of the ones I wanted to have. It's quite difficult to get a real one at a decent price and many fakes make it even more difficult to spot a genuine one like mine.
