Since i am in an international forum i thought i might ask a couple of questions to the world...Both questions stem from todays news: 1. Heard there was a riot in Canada after losing a hockey game! WTF!? Thought Canadians were thoroughly decent...acting like filthy Europeans! oops! This is international...! 2. Heard that Britain...okay England is selling off its Harrier Jump Jet aircrfat for bugger all to the Americans! What is going on in Britain these days...bring in people by the millions that openly hate England....and now your starting to disarm yourselves!? DoD is at it again, trying to put themselves out of a job...then go to Libya and wonder where all the equipment is! Bet you guys could do with an aircraft carrier right about now...didn't you have a few??
Alas, I found out within the past couple of days that Brittania, which once ruled the waves, has defanged itself by getting rid of it's carriers. Quite sad that this island nation no longer has a fleet to be reckoned with.
I think Britain is trying to launch 2 mini-supercarriers, last I heard. Further checking Queen Elizabeth class 70,000 tons, 40 aircraft, 2020 launch.
Firstly, it is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - not "England" Secondly WETF are you talking about ?
I think that what we are seeing here is a case of web information. No doubt that there is some truth to it, but often what we far away understand is probably not quite accurate. IE: the millions of people who hate you, we see on the web and elsewhere pictures of Muslims in Britain at protests holding up signs which are hateful. We understand Muslim immigration into Europe is a large problem and hear reports that in 20 or 50 years the Muslim will be the largest percentage of people in Europe and will tun it into a Muslim state. We hear that Britain has large immigration of brown skinned people due to the easier travel and immigration policies applied to those from Commonwealth countries. These people look like Muslims. On top of it all, it seems that Britain has become a nanny state, where they citizens expect the government to keep care of them, tell them what to do, what activities they can have, etc. Where once not long ago the British Empire was the most powerful in the world fueled by the John Bull types. Now as to the riots, well unfortunately some of our drunken youth did act like a bunch of arseholes, he didn't get that wrong. KTK
I find it quite funny that many British are upset over the "Harriers for peanuts" deal. What do they expect? If Britain had decided to scrap the Harriers instead of selling them, they would have gotten a lot less than what the Americans are paying for them. Not to mention the fact that the British axed the Harrier program, after spending this purported 1 billion pounds to upgrade them over the last decade. And I though we had idiot politicians here in the US...
