If the authors of this monumental exercise in post war Third Reich revisionism are unimpressed by people 'trashing' their tome without having read it, too bad. Gerrard knew this was a possiblity when he came to this forum.

Why don't we get an opinion from the foremost defender of the the modern image of Adolf Hitler, DAVID IRVING. I would bet my left testicle that Mr. Irving collapses with laughter at the prospect of Adolf and Eva with two girl children whiling away the years in Argentina. Funny that, for all his voluminous writings about Mr. Hitler and his movement, Irving has never, EVER been stupid enough to claim that Adolf 'escaped'.

Likewise, as another poster pointed out, if this was such a true story, Mr and Mrs Hitler would be numero uno on every Nazi hunter's hit list. The fact that not a Nazi hunter in existence has ever turned up so much as a trace of any of this quartet again leads me to believe it's all hogwash.

Our own Phylo Roadking has posed significant questions that shoot Gerrard's hypothesis full of holes. No Reply there either....(singing, with apologies to John Lennon)

I am reminded of the American critic Rex Reed once stating that he never views a show before writing a review, because it might predjudice his opinion. He is also on record as wanting to wire a movie seat to his butt, so that when the show starts to make his posterior go numb, (a natural reaction when it's a flop), an alarm will go off, pointing him toward the theater exit. Another reviewer was incredulous at the thought of Hollywood and Broadway all wired to Rex Reeds arse!

In the same vein, I think we have a distinct case here of 'numb butt'. Is that an alarm I can hear?

 

You and your "chiseled chin" (Filo pastry) friend are very strange, but obviously very much in love. How sweet.

 

With respect, how are these comments helpful? I would have thought you'd at least respond to the queries posed.

 

This poster has gone after me on amazon, you tube, ww2talk, here, axis history forum, and has accused me of being a neo nazi, which I'm not. I have tried to engage, something most authors don't do, but he and "Volga Boatman" have been amazingly unpleasant (see previous trumpetings on this thread) . I have posted a taster of the book, my own e-mail, and am at a loss to know what else I can do to satisfy most sensible forum members.
However, "Phylo Road King" also known as "oranebridges" has made this personal and I simply won't be bullied. That comes from a long career as a journalist where I have been threatened by really dangerous people.
He won't identify himself on any forums, otherwise I'd be happy to talk this over a beer in Belfast, where he comes from. He has gone after other authors, without ever publishing anything himself, and for me is the worst sort of "critic".

It is especially galling that Mr. Williams has accused Phylo Roadking of
"defamatory and libellous remarks" on WW2Talk.

His case would laughed out of an American court, if he [Williams]
filed a libel suit on this side of the pond.

I didn't have time last night to do anything else than make a very quick answer to the author's post.

Now I shall take the time to be more specific.

Nope; you've been questioned as to why you only ever went to Stromfront to sell your book; you replied that you did so to stimulate research - unfortunately AFTER your book went to print and you had publication dates - and of course you didn't forget to append a link to Amazon for prospective purchasers.

You were however ALSO questioned as to why you think it is supposedly so "necessary" to engage with the Neo-Nazis there - something you as yet have neglected to answer at all. If interaction with the members at Stromfront is so "necessary" to your researches, why don't you point us to a single datum or factlet in your book that's referenced to Stromfront?

Noone here has any interest in your politics at all; nor is any particular shade of political opinion relevant to the topic at hand....for instance, Stalin was rather interested in the fate of Adolf Hitler - and noone could accuse HIM of being a Neo-nazi!

As for your willingness to engage - where are the answers to the "serious" questions put to you? I'm not the only one with questions that you've chosen to ignore...for instance, since those questions were posed on this page of the thread you've been back twice - and on neither occasion to address the questions.

What does THAT tell us? That you can't answer them? That you don't know the answers? Or that you simply don't want to answer them? Which do we conclude? We'll await your answer on that particular aspect of the issue...

But whichever the answer is - some of the questions you're ignoring are VERY pertinent to the premise your book is based on.

Others can look to see if they are in agreement or not but the locking of that thread is not IMO due to Phylo's actions.

That is a very serious alegation. Can you back it up with a reference. Certainly I haven't seen any such accusation and without such this is defintily a case of attacking the poster rather than the post.

 

Same here. Also, as I had the audiobook version, I miss the references and even looking up stuff is hard. So sorry, I can't answer to any specific questions about the book with any credible detail. Outside the book, I depend on news articles and wikipedia, so consider me a total amateur who's just asking dumb questions. For example, my knowledge about the dental records were just that AH:'s dentist outlined them from memory, and that sometimes nazis manipulated the teeth of a person later to be killed and planted as false evidence. Hence I thought there was a chance of a coverup here, especially with the Soviets getting rid of the corpses and everything.

I do understand that tunnels can be traced from above the ground, but I assumed that this kind of survey has not been published and the secret tunnel claim remains unconfirmed: what I would like to see is that some independent party either ruled out or confirmed this.

It's been interesting to read Phylo's refutations of the book and as Gerrard is here debating as well, I would like to ask for him and Phylo to bury their tomahawks and engage in an intellectual discussion about the facts, references and all. Phylo has accused the writers of using false facts but I would like to see his own sources here, too – not that I'm saying that he's wrong, but I'm intrigued. So please, guys, cool down and - educate us.

This is becoming interesting and it looks like I'm about to read more books about those decisive years of world politics. After all, this was when the foundation was laid for German industrial prowess and even for the global market as it is today. In the face of this, Hitler's life or death becomes a rather insignificant detail. I would even say that if Hitler did escape to Argentina, it was only because that allowed Martin Bormann to keep some of the inherited power a little longer. Damn, that guy was smart!

Phylo is posing questions that Gerrard keeps dodging. This isn't debate. It's a farce. It's a shambolic attempt to rewrite history without the usual referencing and sourcing that the subject of history demands from it's skilled practitioners.

If I wanted to read Third Reich fiction, I would stick to Sven Hassel. And most likely, Sven will give you a better idea of what it was like to be there, fictional as he is.

All ProjectGreywulf are achieving is to alienate their potential audience, all in the name of flogging their book.

Until our legitimate questions are fielded in a responsible manner, we have no option but to classify it all as taurus excretia.

If I was an editor, I would have 'CGSM'ed it. What does this stand for? Consignment of Geriatric Shoe Manufacturers....or...a load of old cobblers!!!

 

Hitler's dental x-rays and records were missing when SMERSH visited Dr. Blaschke's premises on the 9th of May 1945...and they have never surfaced.

The Americans, who had Blaschke in their custody, asked him to both recreate the written records AND to model Hitler's teeth for them. But in addition to these, medical full-head x-rays of Hitler DO still exist from 1944.

picked up a copy in my bookstore - probably wouldn't have bothered at all but for all the forum space the authors have garnered for it. 'Any publicity etc etc ...' Thanks for the links to the AHF thread. This is a pretty shoddy piece of work though. And was the book designed deliberately to look 'tatty' or 'aged' ? Terrible paper quality - very cheap. That's how much confidence the publishers had in this book. Read three chapters in the shop - they have comfy armchairs in Waterstones - and put the thing back on the shelf. Who the hell is Peter Baumgart? (apparently AH's pilot). Surely the authors realised that all 128-victory RK holders are well known?....I was under the impression that it had been established quite clearly on at least one AHF thread - where at least one of the two authors appears to have done much of his research - that there was no such 128-victory ace who later served in the SS from the records of some 31,000 Luftwaffe pilots. Nor was there any 'runway', 'boulevard' or 'axis' - or other open space - capable of taking a multi-engine type in Berlin -anywhere- after 26 April etc etc. The Ju 52 wasn't a STOL type by any means. And Hanna Reitsch is a hopeless witness. But ultimately pointless to waste time going through all the points that jumped out at me. I might go back to read more. Certainly won't purchase it. Reluctant marks though for the valiant if vain attempt to dress this up as a serious work ....

 

Maybe it was pristine when it hit the shelves, all sharp-edged & shiny, and it's the grubby fingers of 100 curious passing forumites that wore it out.

If that were the case, they all put it back after a brief read too...

I met Sir Max Hastings this weekend and got to chat briefly. I also asked him what he thought of the "Grey Wolf" book.....I got a two word response, one of which was "drivel.."

it is a "disease" - of ex-journos and reporters - to always want to imagine that they have come up with some huge revelation, such as 'Bormann found living in Argentina'. "There are no new revelations to be uncovered about WWII and there haven't been since the Ultra secret in the mid-70s..."

 

No you didn't. You're reporting is as skewed as your view of history. Why don't you at least be honest in what Sir Max said.
