I have not skied for years and I don't know why I am not still skiing. I learned to ski in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (West) Germany.

In 1979 I was at Fort Sill with B Battery 1/17 Field Artillery (SP) M109A1, 155mm. Funny thing about my first 3 ½ years in the Army is this: Basic Training – Fort Sill OK, Advance Individual Training – Fort Sill OK, first permanent part unit – Fort Sill OK. Re-enlisted at Fort Sill OK I thought I would never leave Fort Sill.

One day while pulling Charge of Quarter Runner (CQ Runner) a soldier came walking down the hallway towards the Orderly Room just behind were the CQ desk was. As he got nearer to my amazement it was my AIT Drill Sergeant! He recognized (is that a good thing?) as one of his old Trainees. The then signed into the unit and became my Section Chief. For a year and ½ I was constantly reminded that he had trained me better than that.

Probably has a photo of Jack Webb in a gilded frame above his perfectly made rack. :)
