I got this from my Grandpa's estate and have been doing some homework as to what it is. So far I have been told the following: 1933 Eickhorn SS Dagger Underneath little squirrel on logo it is stamped SE Lower crossguard is stamped "1" Buckle for holder clamp is stamped "DRGM" Any other info anyone can share? Thanks!
IT doesn't look old enough to me. Everything is too shiny if that makes sense. Here is a link to a valuation and interpetation site for these daggers: http://quanonline.com/military/military_reference/german/blades/ss/lass.php
Rest assured...this dagger is original. Rough...but original. Nickle fittings and the rarer vertical hanger...pitty the hanger is damaged as they can fetch A LOT of money. The scabbard is also anodized...not painted. It may surprise you what it is worth as well.....
Kinda hard to take this guys website serious when he can't get the bloody SS moto right. It's 'Meine Eher Heist Treue".....yes I know I'm being 'nit picky'...but if you are going to have a web site to help people make sure you are giving accurate info! RR
Correction to my earlier post...under the squirrel logo it is stamped "C.E." I have found pictures of the Eickhorn logo on other daggers, but they do not have the "C.E." marking on the logo. Does anyone know the reason the logo mark would be different between daggers? Thanks.
They used 3 different logos I believe...the earliest is the double oval logo. It fits the rest of the dagger to a 'T'.
It's actually quite a good site. There is a lot of info on this site, so maybe we can forgive a few typos?..,, even the great Hugh Trevor roper got the hitler diaries wrong....
