TOULOUSE, France (Reuters) - A gunman suspected of killing seven people in the name of al Qaeda, including three children at a Jewish school, said on Wednesday he would hand himself over to police to end an hours-long siege in southwestern France.

About 300 police, some in bullet-proof body armor, cordoned off an area surrounding a four-storey house in a leafy suburb of the city of Toulouse where the 24-year-old Muslim man, identified as Mohamed Merah, was holed up on the ground floor.

I'm glad they got his brother alive and made him talk : explosives have been found in his car only minutes ago! Apparently the nutters were about to do more damage.

 

It was reported this guy has trained in Pakistan with AQ. He has murdered 7 and has a mountain of explosives.

It had to take thousands of dollars to travel between Pakistan and France and I doubt he paid in cash. If fact I don't think you could pay in cash, it would set off all sorts of alarms !! He had to pay for living expenses and Toulouse, France is not a cheap place to live.... I'm sure his motorcycle and the explosives cost a bundle.... So like the old saying goes, FOLLOW THE MONEY !! Someone had to put out a paper trail if it be a charge card or a money wire. He had to have a phone so records of payments would be available. Hell, he was arrested on February, 24th on traffic charges. How did he make bail ?? Who paid it ?? FOLLOW THE MONEY !! I just hope this leads to others that financed this creep.

But what I find amazing is this little snot, Mohammed Merah, is only 24 years old... Let's say it took a year or so to train in Pakistan (whatever that is) and it took a year or so to travel and settle in France. So he started his life of terror at around 20-22 years old ! Back when I was 20-22 I was chasing skirts and feeling my oats, not murder and terror. It's a changing world and I don't like the changes.

Actually it is my expierence that the older you are the more stable, how many middle aged suicide terrorist are there? Sure there are 'leaders' who organise and occasionally partake, but most actual doers are the young. Look at the Red/anachist gangs of the '70's in Europe as an example.
