This whole Renault situation is a comedy of ****ing children. On topic, though, despite being a Glock and Kubica fan, I hope Rubens steals this one from Jenson. I really do. Rubens is our last remaining link to Senna, and he's had to be the number two for almost his entire career. I really hope he gets it done.
Briatore has been kicked out of Renault even though he says otherwise. Wonder if it's high time for him to retire....
I could say that all this is bringing the sport into disrepute, but it'd be like accusing someone of murdering a corpse.
Ferrari has told that Massa vill be the other driver for next season, and the other driver is either Finnish or Spanish.... Means probably that Räikkönen will have to drive for another team next season, but no problem as to the cash as he will be paid 20-30 million(?) euros by the Ferrari anyway as the deal lasts until the end of 2010.
The last race of the season at Abu Dhabi. Wonder where Kimi will be driving next season, perhaps rally? So far he has said that only McLaren would be good enough for him, but cannot see him driving with Hamilton somehow... Nico Rosberg is also leaving Williams and heading for Brawn/Mclaren according to the rumours. If Kimi does not drive next season it seems he´d still be among the top paid drivers in the F1 world because Ferrari kicks him out when his contract is still covering the 2010 season...
Surprise surprise! German car giant Mercedes has bought the Brawn Formula 1 team in a move that is likely to see Jenson Button join McLaren as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate. Mercedes will buy 75% of Brawn in partnership with an Abu Dhabi investment company but will continue as McLaren's engine partner until 2015. Brawn, who won both world titles in their debut season in 2009, will be rebranded as Mercedes Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg will be their lead driver, with Nick Heidfeld his likely partner. As part of a deal that will see the McLaren Group buy back Mercedes's 40% shareholding by 2011, the German company will continue to supply free engines and sponsorship to the team for at least the next six years. Nico Rosberg joins Mercedes GP Following earlier speculation, the newly-acquired Mercedes Grand Prix team has confirmed its first driver for the upcoming Formula One season. As expected, Nico Rosberg will be switching places with Rubens Barrichello, the departing Brawn GP driver who moves to Williams for next year. 24-year-old Rosberg is the son of former World Champion Keke Rosberg, but he has earned a reputation all his own. After winning the inaugural GP2 Series title in 2005, Nico became the youngest driver to test an F1 car and was subsequently hired by Williams F1, for whom he's raced for the past four seasons. This year, he placed a respectable seventh in the drivers' championship, but there's no telling what he can accomplish with his new World Champion team.
End of Kimi´s F1 career? RTÉ Sport: Raikkonen joins Citroen's WRC team Kimi Raikkonen is to switch from Formula One to the World Rally Championship for next season. Raikkonen's quest for new challenges means he will compete in 12 of the 13 rounds of the 2010 WRC, the only omission being New Zealand. The Finn will drive for the Citroen Junior Team, joining reigning Junior WRC champion Sebastien Ogier in the Red Bull-backed squad. 'I always wanted to compete in rally, especially in the World Rally Championship at some point in my career,' said Raikkonen, who this year impressed on his rally debut in a WRC event in Finland driving an S2000 Abarth.
Silverstone has agreed a 17-year deal to host the British Grand Prix from 2010, ensuring the race is not axed. The Northamptonshire circuit stepped in to stage the race, which next year takes place on 11 July, after Donington Park was stripped of the rights. "This is tremendous news," said 1996 Formula 1 champion Damon Hill, who is president of the British Racing Drivers' Club that owns Silverstone. Under the deal, Silverstone will redevelop the pit lane and paddock. Work is due to start as soon as possible after Christmas but is not expected to be completed until 2011. Preparing for next season: BBC Sport - F1 - Lotus F1 sign Jarno Trulli and Hekki Kovalainen Trulli joins the new Malaysian-backed team from Toyota, while Kovalainen moves after he was left without a seat due to Jenson Button's move to McLaren. The pair have signed three-year deals, with Malaysian Fairuz Fauzy named as the third driver. "[The team] shows our seriousness to be a world championship contender," said Lotus team principal Tony Fernandes. "Trulli will bring us a lot of experience to develop the team, and Heikki is a young driver but has phenomenal experience so I think we have two fantastic drivers with Fairuz as well."
My oh my! Michael Schumacher returns to F1 with Mercedes GP deal - Yahoo! Eurosport UK A move to Mercedes will reunite Schumacher, who turns 41 in January, with Britain's Ross Brawn, the technical director who guided him to all his titles and is now team principal.
What a surprise.... BBC Sport - F1 - Flavio Briatore maintains innocence over F1 crash On Tuesday, the Italian saw an FIA ban for his part in Nelson Piquet Jr's deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix overturned by a civil court. However, Briatore was not exonerated of conspiring to cause the crash. But Briatore told Radio 4's Today programme: "The decision is simple, I have no involvement at all." He added: "I am very happy. The last few months have been very difficult for me. It is great that I have my dignity and my freedom back and this is the most important thing." Despite the lifting of the ban, the 59-year-old revealed he has no desire to return to the sport.
Bahrain yesterday.... ...four World Champions! Michael Scumacher! No refuelling! Hamilton vs Button! Lotus are back! Slick tyres!...... And still we got a rather dull-looking procession around a Scalextric-type track, enlivened only by a busted exhaust pipe. Nice result for Ferrari....but Oh Dear..... Apparently Frank Williams mused after the race that 'Maybe it's the circuits...' Had to smile when the Crown Prince was interviewed before the start.....'There's a bump out at the back which we need to iron out' 'No !!' I wanted to shout - 'Put more bumps IN, mate !!' Roll on Spa.......
I have read complaints about the rules and the way F1 is going and if its going in the direction of follow the leader then you can count me out. Action not boredom is needed.
I recall Kimi Räikkönen say about Bahrain " The first 1/3 is ok, the rest is crap!" He was not the man of clever words always but then again it´s nice to see some people only say what they really think. Awful to see so many new teams being so slow....
It's a typical Herman Tilke crap track, and the changes are so Mickey Mouse. I enjoyed the race though. We'll find out who the good all round drivers are, compared to the "sprinters and damn the car" drivers are. I'm glad the races aren't going to be decided in the pits anymore. The most exciting racing in F1 was from it's inception, up until about the restart of refueling.
