Greetings all. I'm not really sure what we're supposed to say in this space but I figured it'd be rude to ask for help without introducing myself. I've always been a history buff, probably thanks to my late grandmother who had a museum quality WWII memorabilia collection and was always lending me books on the subject. I even graduated with a history degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh although I unfortunately focused more on Civil War era America history at the time. I recently got into the whole genealogy thing and knowing my late grandfather served in WWII, I stumbled upon this site (which honestly reads more authoritatively than the handful of military history classes I recall taking back in college). Anyway, thanks to all the posters for creating such a wonderful community!
I saw your other post, Cman, giving details of your inquiry. I will look for what I can find, but probably not today. It is Mother's Day, ya know If you don't see anything from me in a day or two and you are still standing there with an empty bag, bump the thread as a reminder.
Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. I had a Mother's Day late lunch/early dinner with my mom and grandma yesterday and I knew the first question they'd ask is "So, did you find anything out about grandpap?" I posted my inquiry after lurking here for a couple weeks because I wanted tell them I was making some progress!
