Please ask him to join this forum and present his premise with supporting documentation. Opinion will not be sufficient.

Tell him that I dare him.

Just a quick note but the USS Maine exploded in Havana harbor not Manila. The war was fought mostly over American disgust at the treatment of Cuban revolutionaries. As part of the peace agreement the US bought and paid for the Philippines. Relations have not always been good with the Filipinos as we ended up fighting the same revolutionaries in the Philippines as the Spanish after they felt like the US had tricked them into replacing one oppressor with another. The US never had plans to annex either the Philippines or Cuba, but the peace agreement did include territory the US still holds today including Guam and Puerto Rico.

Don't joke; on another forum I used to frequent, some idiot claimed the US was responsible for WW2 by not taking charge at the Versailles Treaty talks and showing the rest of the Allied nations how it should be done.
    And he wasn't joking.

As long as you stop saying England when you mean Britain!:p
Here are a few definitions of a just war (I know it's the BBC, but they do occasionally get something right)-
BBC - Ethics - War: What is a 'just cause'?

The U.S. is a saint compared to old Europe. Nothing to compare with the UK, but also France for instance, they invaded England (1066), Germany (louis XIV), Spain (Napoleon) , occupied Berlin several times (Napoleon) , occupied Moscow (1812), invaded Mexico and Italy (Napoleon III) , occupied large parts of the USA (Lousiana) , founded Canada (Quebec), annexed Belgium, Holland, Croatia and even part of Neutral Switserland ... They occupied Jesuralem and Byzance during the crusades. Large parts of Africa and Asia were former colonies. Even famous WW2 theatres can be named (Bougainville Island) .
One shouldn't forget Spain with the inquisition in south America, and what about Holland in South Africa, colonial America, Indonesia etc? Portugal had an expansionist policy up to 1975 . The Greeks conquered large parts of Africa and southern Europe, some for the Romans with the entire Mediteranean bassin.

"get a life bro.. if u wana talk abt *&*&, ok, but thatd theres alot of false (*&^ in zeitgeist, I kno... its abt 40% true... I only agree wit the picture not the caption"

I asked then what does he agree about the picture and he responded

If he's that incoherent I'm not sure he's correct about the "we can talk" bit as he has hardly demonstrated that capability. Have to take a look at the picture if I can and see just how much of it is correct. Certainly a couple of falacies have been pointed out alread.

So he is a candy? I thought as much.

Or, is he afraid that he cannot voice his opinion using coherent sentences in standard US* English, as is required here?

    * or as close as the Limeys, Canucks and Aussies can get to it.:D

Sounds like your FB friend is a moron...at least the parts I could read. If he won't come here to debate, then he is just a poseur. He's not worth anyone's time.

I'm off to start an argument with a conspiracy-obsessed kid.
That always ends well, and makes me look really cool... :eyebrows:

Still waiting on him to answer who that high ranking officer from the Vietnam War is he knows.

Von Poop, well I thought his posting really was ignorant, not to mention being posted just after Veterans Day, and I atleast wanted to educate and give the other side of the story to the people that liked it along with himself.
I am not trying to look cool either, I respond once and awhile to statements on Facebook made by friends that are fellow classmates who try to pass themselves off as some historian.

Two months ago I got into a debate with one of his friends that posted around September 11 saying how the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were terrorist attacks and no different than 9/11 according to him. I tried to show established facts to him and point out incorrect points he made, but he just called me brainwashed, stupid, ignorant, a puppet etc.
The debate, ended with him deleting the posting and telling me to "keep my brainwashed trash away from" I happily obliged by defriending him.

The positive to this past debate? As it went on and I provided sources, links and facts and as he in return just shouted that I was ignorant and was a goverment puppet, his friends and family who where watching, were able to see both sides of the story and thanked me for providing info they never knew about and being encouraged to look into the info themselves, I don't want to look cool or score points or whatever the term is these days, I just to show people the accurate side of the story or atleast encourage them to look into it more themselves.
