Just received a "message" from "Microsoft account security info confirmation" on my smart phone email account...Spelling and punctuation exactly as received....Message exactly as follows:

    Microsoft account

( in bold blue letters- only the first letter capitalized: )
    Security info
    confirmation

    It looks like you added
    some security info to your
    Microsoft account
    ( my e mail ) :
Phone number: (someones telephone number I know )
You can use this info to
    reset your password if you
    forget it.

Confirm (area code) ( persons number )-( they want me to click here and /or below)

    If you didn't make this
    request, click here to
    cancel.

    Thanks,
    The Microsoft account
    team

Can anyone help with this? Should I just delete, or would mods like me to email it to them? ..Don't want to give out info contained, but would give to WW2F mods.

My smart phone is invaluable. Can work anywhere, can use it to download tech manuals, send pics of wiring, etc, etc. ..Don't understand those who don't want to be connected. Makes life easy er. C'est non?...The butt dialing is problematic, but have to deal with the brown side.

Do you have a windows live acct? If so it may have been hacked or something(soemone spoofing emails from it?) But this message came up when I tried to log into my windows live acct.

I had to do it to reset my windows live acct when it got hacked. They will text you an password and an email to reset your acct.

    Hope this helps :D

    Cheers!

Have a BB Torch. Wonder if it may be Youtube related. ..Noticed the other day, the arrows indicating activity, so hit the button. Said "incorrect password", without me even trying to unlock phone...Pretty sure my friend has been careless in the places he visits, and the info he puts out there. ..I post this not thinking WW2F will solve, only to alert, and as a warning to others.. Information should be shared.
Thanks Wolf...Hope things have worked out for you and yours. Best wishes.

Wow..Currently being heavily phished...Latest was a message from Bank of Montreal asking for info. Says someone has tried several times to access my online banking, and account has temporarily been suspended. Checked, and BMO is aware of the phish...Also my sisters account seems to have been compromised, some "work" site keeps asking me to click on her info to confirm...Getting a lot of phone calls - debt collections, salesmen looking for bits of info...What a bunch of turds...Also discovered my Microsoft Security Essentials had been turned off...If I had a gun, I'd shoot those som beeches.

You might want to run a MalwareBytes scan, possibly even a ComboFix or Rkill. MSSE doesn't just turn itself off...the only times I've seen it get disabled, rootkits were involved. It also may help explain why all these turds are getting your personal information...

Yes, have MalwareBytes. Ccleaner, MS Essentials... Up to date...Wonder about Flashplayer. Old comp, so have to run old version of flash. But everytime I start comp, Flash tries to install new version that ( after installing )would not play videos because my shiznitz is old.?. What a hassle trying to find the old version of Flash I had, then reinstall it, wrong version, delete, reinstall etc forever...I dunno. ..Hopefully I'll get some IT training here in the future. (fingers crossed-Santa might have come early)

I've had MalwareBytes, MS Essential (worthless) Norton (worse than worthless) AVG...etc. They all are unable to stop viruses even with constant updates. Most of my past crashes and virus came from IE updates from Microsoft and the worst offender is the crappy Adobe. I avoid those 2 at all times.

I swear by the Avast anti virus ! It catches and prevents EVERYTHING ! And I'm on public wifi a lot. If you take the time to set all the options after installing, it's great. Use Avast with Google Chrome and the turds can't get Ya.

Thanks..I'll try....Thinking Skipper? advised me to do this a while back...My folks advised me to go to university, but did I listen? Nooo.... Had used Avast on other comps, but when I tried to delete- left a folder I couldn't get rid of...But a folder is better than what dealing with now....Do I delete Ccleaner, MSE, IE then use Firefox to dwnld Chrome then Avast? Then delete Firefox??? Ok to keep Malwarebytes? Does anything clash? Kinda confusing...Understand if nobody wants to school us/me on it.
