You get maybe 2-3 seconds like that in your life. Having a camera at the ready is a major plus. Well done, that eagle.
as a last note, the great blue heron is the biggest and meanest species of heron in the US. they drive away other wading birds from a rich feeding ground. but as the picture shows, they don't always have things their way.
my latest picture online begs a question i've been wanting to ask soldiers: in a large regular unit (say, company-size to brigade) who prescribes what weapons (conventional or specialized) must be available to the units for a coming mission? the importance of coming to a fight with the right equipment. a demonstrator in nantes, france.
Every once in a while Illinois makes me smile; Urbana, IL — If you decide to desecrate an American flag and share photos of your big moment on social media, beware the wrath of the internet. A 22-year-old Illinois man learned that lesson after setting a flag on fire and sharing photos on his Facebook page.( name omitted by me because he's an ashhole), paired the photos with statements about violence and race in the US. "I am not proud to be an American. In this moment, being proud of my country is to ignore the atrocities committed against people of color, people living in poverty, people who identify as women, and against my own queer community on a daily basis,” Ashhole wrote, as reported by Forbes. Shortly after the pic went up, callers began flooding the Urbana police department around 7:30 a.m., urging police to investigate ashhole and his page. The calls ranged from concerns over his posts, to threats against both Ashhole and his employer, Walmart. Police became concerned he was putting others at risk. They spoke with Ashhole about exercising his freedom of speech, but warned that he could be endangering people other than himself, reports the News-Gazette. Ashhole decided to keep it up, so out came the cuffs. Just before 10 a.m., he was booked into the county jail, on charges of flag desecration, a class four felony in Illinois, and disorderly conduct. Police said it's the first time in nearly 30 years they've had to use the flag desecration statute.
Lady rearended my '01 Sonoma on the 23rd. Today's repair estimate will pay it off. Then I'll get it fixed as is needed for a basic hauler. Thanks for the eight payments, lady.
For today's sharing, "Tsuki no sen geiko, tsuki no sen seiko." A thousand thrusts in martial arts and a thousand thrusts in making love are the ingredients that make a person of character. From the book by Dave Lowry.
saw this in a white supremacist site but it's benign in that respect. this is probably not the actual bike since the US army didn't draft or take 6-year old volunteers.
The real story behind the bike can be found here: http://komonews.com/news/local/vashon-mystery-how-did-the-bike-become-embedded-in-the-tree
Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and near 60F here in Minne-so-cold. I just may play hooky and go hang out at the beach.
