I forget if i mentioned this before but anyway...have any of you read WW2 magazine? It is great for enthusiasts like us! The articles are filled with personal accounts, pictures, and detailed maps. If you have the magazine for 1 year i'm sure it'll cover every theater ...and has stories from each nations point of view. The only bad thing is that it comes bi-monthly but oh well it's worth waiting for. There are also special issues like a special one on pearl harbor this year...and every year they have a special air war issue! VERY GOOD! I'm sure you can pick up a magazine to thumb through at your local bookstore...i know they have them at borders or barnes and noble.
I had collected WW2 magazine from issue #1 from many years ago. Like an idiot, I loaned them out and never got them back and cannot find copies anywhere in the area I live in. We also have a Barnes and Nobles store here too but the manager seems to be pretty prejudiced against the Germans and will not order the magazine. I have been trying to get them to order it for over 2 years now. Needless to say, it is an excellent magazine. The last issue I was able to pick up which was at a supermarket near my house, was the issue about the rangers at Pont Du Huc (spelling?) since then, I havent seen an issue of that magazine. I guess it depends on your focus, I'm a big fan of Command magazine, it covers all wars, but has a heavy emphasis on WW2 and the articles are very in depth.
Unfortunately they have no website. Command comes out monthly and is geared toward the wargamer but is great for nongamers as well. It comes out in two versions; one regular edition at the newstand, and a hobby shop edition with an extra booklet and playing peices. I only purchase the newstand edition. The magazine is great and covers all wars in an exciting manner, it is truly the only publication I will read non WW2 content. If i get more info, I'll post it
Hm...WW2 Magazine...is that what the magazine is called? I havent noticed it at my local bookstore, but from what you all have said, i can problary find it Barnes and Nobles. I'll take a look next time i go to a bookstore. On a side note, can anyone recomend a book on WWII that is good reading? The last one i read was 'Citizen Soldiers' a great book that relates the first-hand accounts of over 100 Allied/Axis veterans. Thanks.
YUP that's exactly what it is called "World WAR II" magazine..if you see a military history section in the magazine area...then it should be there especially in a barnes and noble! As for books...i'm reading a book written by the same author as citizen soldiers called D-Day June 6th 1944...some people don't like Steven Ambrose as an author...but the book made good reading anyway. so i figure if you liked his book Citizen Soldiers then you may like this one!
