It is Parfondruy and you can still see my grandfather http://www.rha40-45.be/wp/?p=325 Henri Rogister, historien de la Bataille des Ardennes et membre du CRIBA en charge du site web de cette Association (www.criba.be) On this picture, my grand-father. Grégoire Home is on the "route de Trois-Ponts " Keith, My friend Colette Delrez, wife of Jean-Pierre, found a site where you can see photos of the Gregoire home. http://www.oldhickor... Photo page.htm Colette was able to recognize that this house was on the road " Route de Trois-Ponts " So with Street view, I show you that this house is almost opposite the Legaye Home. I do screenshots on street view in the same direction as the old photos ( more or less) . Have a good day . Liliane
Photo taken 2 January, 1945 at la Gleize. I am always fascinated by such photos. These people spent many days huddled in basements under furious American artillery fire. I suppose all of them have lost family members. The little boy in the front looks impish while behind him a young girl (in glasses) is in tears. The old woman on the left is merely stoic. Each face tells a different story.
I would like to click on "like this" on your comment ... But every time I have this small window that opens, even if I have not clicked once on "like this" during the day ...
If you mean the subject of the thread - late December 1944. If you mean Forum 'likes' being replaced by 'salutes' - earlier this year, I think.
For me , it is always " Like this" and impossible to do 2 " like this " by day . Always the same window with "You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day". Just one by day ? This is not much...
First time to this site, first day as a registered user. This site, and particularly, this thread (I haven't perused others yet) is amazing. Great pictures, great stories -- finally something useful to do when it's too slow at work!
My first post. I apologize if they've been posted before and I missed it. I found these newsreels clips of the mass burial from the massacre of civilians in Stavelot: http://www.criticalpast.com/products/location_history/Stavelot_Belgium/1940/1944 It shows Liliane Crismer's grandfather quite clearly having to carry the frozen stiff bodies of the small children who died. Too sad and difficult to watch.
