And apart from my one...which was obviously lost....the rest land in America and ask to be take to your leader...The rest of us just wait..hope...pray...that America will talk for us all...At that stage I'll be looking for the keys to 6 shaft RAF Rudloe manor to camp 200 foot underground while it all blows over
I am starting to think it may be that location KodiakBeer, wish the ATIC files could be found to shed light on this though. I honestly wonder how they misspelt the town's name that bad, and it has not been corrected yet.
Habbe or habe - haben is a verb (have) and I suspect that in some conjugation it might refer to a place near Bischoffstein or Bischofstein. Those are two different places, one in Hesse and one in Alsace. No matter, the sighting sounds a lot like some type of flare blowing around in the wind. It doesn't surprise me that some exhausted GI found it mysterious.
Hmm that is an interesting explanation KodiakBeer, I appreciate the info, The "sighting" occurred 35kms NW of the town as the report describes so that Habbe or habe makes sense considering what you say. By the way does anyone know what US Army Divisions were in Bischoffsheim or Bischofsheim in April of 1945? Google seemed unhelpful in this regard, it might identify what division the solider in the report was apart of.
No worries Oddly enough there is a Bischoffstein in Germany as well. In other news I made this, behold my MS Paint Skills (cough cough none cough) http://s769.photobucket.com/user/grecorssino/media/untitled_zps2bb27872.png.html This is the result of working in paint, the black on white text if you can see labels the towns of Bischofsheim which then follows the blue line which leads 34.9 kms Northwest (roughly 35kms) outside the town to the small town of Steckenroth. Between Steckenroth and Wingsbach I have put a green box with lines indicating a possibly estimation for the location of the supposed incident. I apologize for the roughness of it and if its hard to see. Directly bordering the box is Steckenroth to the North, Wingsbach to the East, Watzhahn to the South and a road labeled K687 to the West. Note the box that is green that is filled was just a key.
Don't know about habbe, but the rest would be Bishop's house/home/residence. Good detective work on your part so far. You've come a long way since I left for work this morning.
Thanks! I like mysteries and trying to solve them, appreciate the kind words. Guess this day off from work for me worked well. I also appreciate everyone's input here as well.
