After having some chat's got me curious as to the best way to meet the BF of your teenage daughter/sister..

In my family usually first question asked is..

What are your intentions towards my sister/daughter?
    a. Suicidal
    b. Homicidal
    c. or Sexual

They will either step up to the plate and join in on the family banter, in which case we have no problem with them, If you'r a smart a** you will be fine, If not your doomed the family will send you running away or insane.

So was wondering what other way's do people meet the BF's?

My daughter will not date, ever, so I don't have your problem.

Be sitting in the living room, cleaning your shotgun and swilling beer when the BF arrives. Maybe sharpening an axe or machete too. That oughta do it.

Bucket of water and a wool GI sock will get their intentions squared away right quick and in a hurry

To me, that would be a conversation starter, not a threat.

That depends on how much beer has been swilled prior to said conversation.

It would be a problem if I even let her out of the basement, which won't happen until she hits age 21, so no worries.

My uncle would always ask if there was any 'insanitary' in his family.

Interesting I had this very conversation about 6 weeks ago with my eldest daughter's first date, a young man who sought her favor to accompany him to the Homecoming festivities.

My daughter was told to make arrangements for the boy to come to my house several days prior to the event and plan on having an extended conversation with me and my wife. My daughter was petrified at the thought and concerned that the boy would balk. I told her that if he wanted to go with her, he would come and he did, saying it was not a problem. I don't know why she acted so surprised with my fatherly request since she has been told all of her life that this was a expectation of any boy that sought to have her accompany him to social events and otherwise. Apparently his parents had schooled him to expect such a demand from the father of his prospective dates, so he willingly came. At least that was what I was told by my daughter.

We talked for about an hour. He only needed the front half of the couch seat because that is where he stayed. I think he was truly afraid of me, although I tried to be as congenial to him as I could. I did not occupy myself with firearm maintenance, although my daughter fully expected me to do so. The highpoint of the conversation was when I jokingly told him that I had 2 1/2 acres here and about 100 acres of family land and he was a teenage boy, so no one would miss him.

We talked about a lot of various and sundry things, but I also told him that expected, in addition to guarding her purity, for him to guard her innocence. In other words, treat her like a lady. Leave his vulgar jokes, words and attitudes, if he had any, elsewhere.

My daughter has high expectations of how a man should treat a woman and apparently he did not fully meet them, as they only went out one other time before she told me that she didn't see herself going anywhere else with him. She didn't to into details and I did not press her for any.

She is not nearly so concerned about bringing boys out to meet daddy now, so we will see how it works out in the future.

I've given clean instructions to my wife to produce only male offspring. Much simpler that way.
