Russian Warships off the coast of Australia

Just heard there are 4 Russian warships in the coral sea...as a show of strength for the upcoming G20 conference in Brisbane...Putin is a tool...with a bad plastic surgeon!
I wonder if he can spell Collins class submarine?

Sigh...unfortunately the 111s were SERIOUSLY old...and getting dangerous. I LOVED those babies...we have always kept the edge in our region (right now being the exception) and the F111 was a serious threat in the region...(It was our way of showing our neighbours that we could strike them anywhere despite their air defence) - Its reputation proceeded it...what you want from a "freedom maintaing weapon". Beautiful too...(US design perfection). A complex aircraft that served us well...(we'll never know how well). There have been a handfull of detractors...iMO these people just dont understand the aircraft's capabilities or the psychological effect it had in the region.
RIP F111 - You will always be fondly remembered. (Except perhaps by the people who had to maintain it : (

When Putin left the G20 summit, the Russian task group left Australian waters, headed into the Philippine Sea, and joined up with another Russian warship group out on maneuvers.

 

And Putin went back and told his committie that he was surprised at the warm welcome he received, not just from our Pollies, but the Australian people...As our Prime Minister said "At the end of the day he is a guest of Australia and we will treat him as such..." Mateship is always is more powerful than a rifle...in my opinion.

 

Sadly while the F-111 will be sorely missed and nothing we have or are planning can match its range or payload it was just too old, When the aircraft start's needing 25 hours for each hour of flight time then you have an issue. Add to that the growing AA capabilities in the region that would chew up and spit out an old aircraft like the F-111 and we had little choice, Would be nice to see us design a new build stealth version seeing as the F-111 was the reason in the past that Indonesia and Australia didn't go to war (With F-111 they realized we could hit them any where we wanted).

 

The 11 was devastating when its' time was ripe. There was a really long gestation and cost overuns (I think), and maybe the cabin ejection was a bit odd.

 

Cabin ejection was genius! You wanna be shot out of an aircraft? Wanna do it at angels 30 Mach 1? : ) the cabin even takes the landing for you...and holds shite you need for survival etc...
The 111 was invisioned as a fighter but couldn't meet the requirements...the grafted F-14 majority of which is an F111 reached the requirements and the the 111 went on the become the best two seater bomber ever IMO...the 'F' designation wasn't dropped for some reason...

 

Yep. Great plane...Not sure how many craft use the module today. These guys survived ejection without cabin. Not a lot of fun to be sure.

Yes...and no. Everything still had to function perfectly, and it still had an envelope of survivability. As this list will attest, it was not necessarily a guarantee of pilot survival.

Shower thought- How would all the information from control connections/sensors be made between the ends and cabin controls. Thinking it should be like our current cell phone /battery connection. A bunch of spring loaded attachment points. When cabin separates, there are no cables to hinder ejection. ..amiright.

So what! In Norway we have russian warships sailing along our coast all the time. No big deal!
And Putin is a great leader, he put things straight in Crimea: He told the West to keep their hands off! This is our territory!
And the Muslim President of the US and the European Union, both on the brink of bankruptcy, did nothing but obey! LMOA!

 

Well in case you haven't looked at a map in a while you will notice that Australia is quite a long distance away from Norway. Not that it's a big deal but more of a novelty for them. Sort of like having to run the air-conditioner in December in Norway. Y'all probably don't have to do it, but I did a couple of days before Christmas when I was cooking a gumbo.

Yes, Putin is a great leader maybe in Russia, but a pain in everyone else's ass who doesn't want another war, or a resumption of the cold war. People in Germany in the 1930s thought that Hitler was the cat's meow too, so so what. About no one doing anything about Putin's moves in the Crimea and the Ukraine, well I really don't want US to get into another war right now. We've had enough for awhile lately.

I'm not an expert on financial matters, but I really don't think that the US is on the brink of bankruptcy. Sure, we can use a lot of "changes" so to speak, but collapsing, probably not. If we do, then you or anyone else in the capitalist world probably wouldn't be laughing for long. Not sure about the European Union at all though. Not really my business what they do over there. We have enough going on here to deal with. Speaking of bankruptcies and such, the Rooskie Ruble is not doing real good right now from what I've read in the paper. Outside of Russia, the Ruble isn't worth it's weight in used toilet paper. Didn't the Rooskie Rublista's raise interest rates over there to avoid a collapse of the Rooskie's monetary system? Maybe they should buy Bitcoins instead.

And why do you refer to our fearless leader as a Muslim President? You'll get no argument from me on the issue, but I thought that Obama was worshiped in Europe. Didn't y'all award him the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing awhile back?
