Student didn't, I think, but von der Heydte did. It's called 'Daedelus Returned' but is not the easiest title to track down.

There have been a few good books about Crete - one of the best is Antony Beevor's ' Crete 1941 - The Battle And The Resistance' which is still in print as a paperback.

Aberdeen books did a small reprint run of Deadalus returned a couple of years back. Its a classic book. Not what you would probably expect from Von Der Heydte. Well worth the usually high price tag. My copy cost me £30 a couple of years ago.

    Also check the following link...

    Airborne Operations: A German Appraisal

This is a copy of the German appraisal of airborne operations and includes operational analysis of the German ops.

Apart from that there are several works in German and Martin Poppels diary is worth a read... If you want a copy of my Crete book list let me know.
