Hi there! I just joined WW2F as I heard that it can useful for militaria collectors to do so in case they ever have inquiries about certain things that they are considering to purchase. I recently found on eBay this ring, which supposedly belonged to a member of the Wehrmacht. It seems quite low in price which got me thinking that this might just be a replica even though the seller confirms that it is original. The seller himself comes from Latvia, and not be racist but it is a known fact that cheap knockoffs are produced in Eastern Europe. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help advise me on whether or not this is an original, and the link for this ring is below. Many thanks, Henry http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151715358130&globalID=EBAY-GB
It's a poor quality cheap fake. Similar items flood Ebay . As if someone would wear this on a battlefield. Don't fall for it .
Price, quality, too good to be true, the seller, the story that goes with it, the fact that many more similar items are available, common sense (I've seen solar watches for U-Boote......). also if it looks too new or if the design is fantasy. There are so many criteria. Yet even experienced collectors happen to fall for boobytraps, as fakers have new challenges all the time. (Wine bottle labels from downtown cities where wine does not grow...., maker codes from factories which neve rmade such and such item etc... The problem is that when they get the right material, codes etc.... Here is more to help you. These threads are older and some of the pictures are gone, but it's still good to read. http://www.ww2f.com/topic/54776-spot-fake-german-objects-this-is-an-easy-one/?hl=%2Bspot+%2Bfakes#entry602655 http://www.ww2f.com/topic/52548-fake-koppelsch%C3%B6sser-thread-learn-how-to-spot-them/?hl=%2Bspot+%2Bfakes#entry577837
