Also, the sampling error is 6.8%. So Rubio could be in the lead. We will find out this Tuesday.

Boy, I wish I lived in your world...I could double my yearly salary by adding together 2 years and saying it is my pay for 1 year.

Unfortunately, real life does not work that way.

Much like how the Saudi invasion of Yemen is ignored.

That's the odd thing about Iowa. The polls showed Trump well in the lead, but when people actually pulled the knob they voted for somebody else. People like the noises he makes, but when it gets serious they don't want him in office. Remember also, that as the lower ranking 'establishment' runners drop out they are even more unlikely to vote for Trump.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into what happens in Iowa, which is my home state. The caucuses are typically attended by older people, people who aren't busy, people who have the hobby of politics and so on. NH isn't going to be much of a realistic view as well. Again, I can't stand anyone who is running currently (I do get some entertainment value out of Bernie...the latest about Clinton telling him to stop smearing about Wall Street money) and won't be surprised by both parties having another candidate emerge at the conventions. One person to watch is Rubio. When Christy gets out and now that Paul is out, many of their votes will go to Rubio. On the Republican side, he seems to be the one who actually will answer questions. I prefer to have someone who can actually balance a checkbook though. Some of my contacts back home have been talking about something not reported in the media. About some of Trump's workers and followers giving each other Nazi salutes. Not saying it's widespread. Trump in part does attract in part anyway the lunatic fringe.

Iowa is very non diverse. Rural Iowa is shockingly depressed in areas. Some areas are amazingly great places to live such as Des Moines. What is odd somewhat is that it is a lot like the national scenario in that Iowa could easily lean liberal or conservative, the divide is that close.

So much can happen between now and November from a lot of angles, it is impossible to predict. People talk about disenfranchised minorities (and it is a problem), but the lower half of the middle class is slipping down the slope of disenfranchised. My oldest son is a millennial. He's a Captain in the military and an immigration attorney. He's done very well. My kids went/go to a fairly affluent highly ranked high school. His classmates in general are really struggling with jobs and trying to build something. These young people in some ways are so much more advanced than my peers were, so it's really not about laziness. There is a gap in opportunity.

At least the election process should be entertaining. There is an opportunity here to break the status quo. What that is replaced with could be better or could be worse.

I am really enjoying this thread from the comfort of my sofa in UK. (Saves me from thinking about the politics of my own nation) Although we try, nothing can beat the 'showbiz' element of USA elections often like a good movie, being left with a cliffhanger. I am awaiting the 'dirty tricks' and sensational media revelations concerning candidates' past behaviour. Has it started yet or have I missed something?

It's started. However both Democrat and Republican media outlets are targeting Trump whose life is essentially an open book if not a TV show already. However the Democratic media might start focusing on Berni with the recent voting in Iowa.
The Republican media is still grinding away at Hilary but it's taken a back seat until they can bury Trump.

The Dirty Tricks has already begun allegedly With a senior Cruz operative tweeting that Carson dropped out of the race before Iowa and his camp sent out a confusing mailer that looked 'official'.

For LJAd: When Citi says this (or any other main financial institution), pay close attention. The term death spiral in financial circles may not mean quite what the average person thinks. It is referring to the liquidity trap that is coming and will have severe consequences similar to 2008 or maybe worse.

Seems that part of it was the fault of the Carson campaign. They sent an ambiguous message to CNN correspondent Chris Moody, who then Tweeted
    [IMG]

Carson's campaign later qualified their statement...

Carson was going home for a change of clothes

Dumb move Ben, dumb move. I hate to say it, but Mr, Carson, or at least one of his advisers, should have seen this coming a mile away.

Mr. Carson et al have been simply amazing. Still think there will be 2 brokered conventions. Is it possible for both parties to nominate candidates that can't be elected? Where is Jesse Ventura when we need him? His running mate is on the left.

For you in Europe, if you think we couldn't, we can. That's the former MN Guv.

Media may have found a weak spot concerning the donald...His kids. He should tell them to stfu. Spoiled idiot entitled brats. No worse than hillary's brat, but still, they should be nowhere near trump's campaign. ..Wouldn't want any of his kids employed in any way with US politics. ..Same with hillary's entitled brat. ..There should be a law saying brats of politicians are exempt from any politics...Would have saved the world from the Bush's.

From across the Pond not for me to choose but maybe would be worth a Trump victory just to see the look on Putin's face when he walked through the door for their first face to face meeting (and to be a fly on the wall to hear his comments afterwards).
